mixing SFX with Adore

Been using Special effects for a decade, and it's no longer available locally. Boo! Boyfriend picked me up adore Wild cherry as i wanted to redo my hair for an event tomorrow. I still have a small amount of cherry bomb from SFX, but not enough to do my whole head (I've let it go to a box natural red from feria in the past few months.) Could I mix Adore with SFX? Anyone have experience with ratios in what would give a best even spread? Also, for those who have used adore, what is the bleeding like compared to SFX? Thank you!

I've never used adore myself but have heard it's really runny so if you mix it with the SFX you will have a much better consistency to work with.  Not sure on proportions or colours though but I'm sure someone else will be along soon who has used them before! πŸ™‚

Thanks! That's my thinking. I was told also to try mixing with conditioner, but don't want to dilute it. Thinking mixing with SFX will give me a better consistency to work with.
If I shouldnt mix it with sfx, any one have tips on how best to apply? I normally just use my hands with sfx, my hair is mid back length..and curly, oy.

SFX is so heavily pigmented, I never use more than 2 fingers length for my shoulder length hair. Mixing it with Adore or other Brands is usually not a problem. I add splashes of white conditioner at Gusto, because I can estimate the final color better.

For an Arielle like Haircolor, I recently mixed SFX Nuclear Red, Adore intense red (pink based) and conditioner in 1:1:1 ratio. It. Came out over a lavender base as a true, deep red.

Adore bleeds less than SFX. From my experience, use less of the SFX dye, if you experience bleeding.

Mixing Adore with conditioner won't dilute unless you have a ton of conditioner to a speck of dye. I always mix Adore with conditioner otherwise the heat of my head liquifies it and it pours down my face and neck. I do a 50/50 mix of dye to conditioner. No bleeding when mixed with conditioner but I had a lot of bleeding in the first wash with it used neat.

If you mix it with Special Effects I'd still recommend adding a bit of conditioner if you want to avoid bleeding. With such pigmented dyes it really makes a difference and you can use less dye.

I've mixed SFX and Adore on multiple occasions; it's absolutely fine.

You can dilute with conditioner if you want; like the others said it won't really affect the pigment a drastic amount.  Adore's rub off is virtually nil in my experience.

Thanks guys. I wound up trying to mix it with the little sfx I had left but it pretty much liquefied it and I barely got my crown. I just used it neat. Color came out amazing. It was a pain though so I will absolutely try the conditioner when I go to touch it up again. I've modified my avatar to show the result! πŸ™‚

It turned out lovely!

If you use Adore again, put it in an applicator bottle (with or without conditioner)--it makes it much easier to apply!
