Hey guys, so ive decided to mix my Directions hair dye with some conditionair in order to get a brighter color.
So after I dyed my hair, I let it soak for about an hour, and then I washed it with cold water.
Unfortunatley it seemes that the color didnt catch almost at all. I mean... some parts of my hair that did catch the color cauhht it pretty good, but the other parts didnt catch at all.
I made sure that the conditionair doesnt conatin silica.
my hair before the coloroing was bright blond, with darker blond roots. also, the last time I washed my hair, I didnt use hair conditionair.
what might the problem be? what have I done wrong? π
Diluting dye with conditioner won't make the colour brighter.
Which dye was it and what colour were you aiming for?
the color was Violet by Directions
I was aiming for a bit brighter purple, but the pruple I got turned to be really really faded, and didnt catch most of my hair
so what does the conditionair do?
It dilutes the colour, makes it paler in cases of mid to pale colours. It will only make very dark colours brighter, but that's again, only because they're being diluted and made paler.
It dilutes the dye, which makes the colour lighter, more pastel. It can also be helpful in strongly pigmented dyes to prevent rub-off and bleeding and to make the dye go further.
Try the Violet undiluted (wash with shampoo, no conditioner before applying) it sounds like you just added too much conditioner.
If the colour isn't bright enough it is probably because your base is not light enough. For a vibrant violet shade you need platinum blonde as your base
thanks guys, i guess i did use too much conditionair.
ill try again tomorrow, with less conditionair, since i dont have enough purple color π
I used to use Violet too, but I always mix it with Direction Cerise AND conditioner, I heard somewhere, that the colour in the bowl should be slightly darker that what you want on your hair π
