Making your own toner?

In a few weeks I'm going from SE deep purple,to blonde, with hopes to eventually get it near white. Has anyone tried making their own toner with really diluted purple dye?

I used crazy colours lavender as a toner.  It worked pretty well, but it needs an even base as it really shows the uneven-ness otherwise.  Plus it doesn't last very long at all!

The only problem I can see with this is what you dilute it with. Because all over this forum there are posts saying that mixing dye with too much conditioner stops it from doing anything.

Just a thought but Crazy Color do a neutral cream which can be used to lighten other colours, granted its made by Crazy Color so was designed for their dyes but if the dyes you are using are around the same consistency I cannot see any problems from cross mixing the brands and using this with a purple colour to make your own shade of toner.  If making your own always try a strand test first to check results.
