Light blue hair to bright auburn/orange help!

Hey guys,

So I recently bleached my hair and then dyed it with Directions Lilac. I t was a really beautiful colour for about two weeks and then faded to silvery purple and blue. I then tried Directions Lavender (which last one wash!!) and then Vivid Violet by Maria Nila which went really dark purple and has now faded out to the picture below. I either want to go a vibrant purple that does not fade out completely within two weeks (I wash my hair every three days) to this blue colour OR go a super bright orange/auburn colour. I am just not sure what the best thing/least destructive thing to do is but I DO NOT want red hair, it makes me look so washed out can never seem to get it out of my hair. Sorry to be complicated I guess I am just a bit stuck and sick of buying purple hair dyes when nothing is sticking πŸ™ I start a new job in a few weeks and I would really like to have one overall colour that doesn't take too much time to touch up. I have been dying my hair for years but never really had this issue before so nay help or advice would be greatly appreciated xxx

Lilac and Lavender are both pastel shades and those don't tend to last more than a few washes. I've had good results with Pravana Violet, which is a deep, vibrant purple (and you can dilute it with conditioner without losing vibrancy, making one tube last a lot longer). I've also liked Special Effects Wild Flower and Directions Violet, which are less intense colours but still stronger than a pastel shade. I wouldn't recommend Directions Plum, as it fades quickly to a blue that is stubborn as all hell. (Those are the only purples I have personal experience with.)

Orange is opposite to blue on the colour wheel, so it wouldn't be very easy to go orange straight from the colour you have now. You could do it by using a blue-based purple like these are, then a pink-based purple, then fading that out to a pinky-peach shade before going orange - that's the only way to avoid the dreaded red (which I also don't like on myself!)

I can recommend the Adore purples, they're super strong!  So far I've used African Violet (very blue) and Violet Gem (very pink).  I think Purple Rage is the in-between true purple I'm looking for but I haven't tried it yet.
I mixed 1:1 with conditioner, didn't look any paler to me and certainly came out very "deep" on my hair.

It could also be your washing routine that's not helping?
Pre-dye I do a nice hot lathery wash with clarifying shampoo - no conditioner - apply dye, cover with shower cap (or clingfilm) and leave on for as long as possible.
Wash/rinse out until water runs clear, finish with a cold cold rinse.
To maintain colour; try conditioner-only washing in cool water, again finish with a cold rinse to "close" the hair cuticle.
