Lasting red?

I'm looking for a red that actually lasts, I've currently got Cerise pink with what was Directions Pillarbox red underneath but the red faded within one wash (using the the naked shampoo and conditioner). Just wondering if anyone had an experience with a red that lasts?

Directions rose red/poppy red mix lasted 3-4weeks before needing topped up on me. Also SFX Cherrybomb. Crazy Colour Fire lasted too. I used normal shampoo and conditioner though once or twice a week. It was probably the less hair washing that helped it.

Reds won't stick, they're a pain but if you have the patience and know a few tricks it needn't be a total hassle.

The colour can be topped up by using a little dye in your conditioner every time you wash your hair. As Kitty suggested you can wash less frequently (providing your hair can cope with that without getting greasy or whatever) but also washing your hair in cooler water, cool as you can cope with it. As you probably know your hair is made up of scales, like fish scales - called cuticles. The cuticles open up in warm water and close in cool water. If they're closed the dye can't leak out as fast. It will still leak because red molecules are built differently to other colours which is why they don't stick, but if it's washed in cool water it will leak less.

Some people have had great success with using a red box dye and adding a Beeunique brand over the top as a way to bring out the red better, maybe that can help too?

Hi, I've colored mine with Fire by Crazy Color.. I wash my hair prob once a week, i personally like to let it get a bit greasy as it's long, and helps it stay nourished. So i'd say im on my 4th wash now.. The top has stayed v.bright, but the ends are looking like they could do with another top up now..

Thanks, I don't really wanna add it to my conditioner, since i'm mainly pink and i'll be putting blue and green in it tonight and i already wash it in cold water, i think the bottom of my hair is just so knackered bless it ;D

Gonna redye it again today with pillarbox as it's all i've got πŸ™

I know it's gotten a pretty bad wrap, but Splat always worked good for me. It's just kinda cheap and won't get a good color unless you buy more than one box and do maintenance on it constantly.
