ION Sky Blue

Hi, I am looking into trying ION Sky Blue (I'm aware that it is almost permanent). How fast does this colour fade? I know it won't come out completely but how quickly does it fade to pastel? I want to find an extremely long lasting hair dye so I could go swimming without a swim cap. I only ever dye my hair blue, turquoise and purple shade so if it fade to pastel blue, I think I can get away with it.  *thx*

Swimming is always a different kettle of fish, so you'll have to find someone that has actually used it and been swimming a lot. There's a lot of very long lasting blues on the market, but they will act quite differently when swimming. I've found that directions turquoise lasts fairly well to a pastel when swimming 3-6 times a week without a cap, but tends to go greener. A bit of pink in conditioner helps that though. I've not used ion.

But if you only dye your hair shades of blue (purple is still basically a blue), then why not just try it?

One youtube reviewer said it faded to pastel within a month. Other claim it stays vibrant for much longer. I prefer the latter and it's not worth trying otherwise. Is there anyone here with experience using this colour? Thanks

It's always worth trying. They all work differently for different people πŸ™‚ you might go with what the majority say, but you could be missing out on a good thing. And as I say, swimming is a whole different matter to most people's experience.

Ion sky blue is as close to a permanent dye as you can get (and i mean permanent in the literal sense, 'permanent' dyes are actually easier to remove) so if it doesn't survive regular swimming sessions nothing will.
