I having been dying my hair a multitude of red and purple shades (with some black) for the past 10 years. I have previously been using XXL and various other dyes from supermarkets but have decided to make a change and be a bit more adventurous!

To cut to the chase (and stop rambling) I am looking to dye my hair a shade of purple (gravitating to Crazy Color). I just wanted to know how many bottles will I need to dye my hair? I am going to use Colour b4 prior and my hair is thin, shoulder lenght, naturally fair brown.

Any help/tips/advice is muchly appreciated!!

well crazy colour doesn't last very long, so you may have to redye quite often, i would get atleast 2bottles of dye just to be on the safe side, maybe three. if you want it vibrant, you'll need to bleach it as wel

Crazy Colour is quite runny, even after topping up part of my rainbow fringe with a 1bottle for several weeks. I was able to use the rest of the bottle to dye all my hair which was an a-line bob thing. So two bottles will be more than enough I think, you'd probably have some left over for top-ups in the second bottle.

Thanks for the feedback peeps!

Is there any other product that might be better then? I just want the best colour for the most reasonable price

I like Directions, their purples are great too. They are a small pot but it can go far and they are second cheapest after crazy colour. Directions Plum is a nice purple and goes a nice colour even over unbleached hair. That's just my opinion though.

I agree with KittyLost, Directions plum is a lovely colour and it goes on and lasts really well (in my experience).

Directions Plum is the only purple that's taken to my hair, tried loads beforehand for years and this one worked great πŸ™‚

Yeah I used Plum for the purple in the rainbow I had.  Warning, it's a REALLY dark purple to begin with, started off black/purple with me even on bleached hair.  After a few washes it lightens up to a nice dark purple but it isn't a vibrantly bright shade.

Well I used Colour B4 to strip my hair! Result = black is gone, hair left pale ginger colour. More than happy. Now I just need to decide on what colour and get it ordered!

Fanks again for all of the help = ]

Just to keep you updated...

I still haven't dyed my hair (I changed my mind and am now waiting for the arrival of my Directions Pillarbox red dye!). When I first used the Colour B4 the results were great but I have noticed that my hair is slowly getting darker since I used it!! It has gone from a pale ginger colour to a faded version of red that my hair was pre B4.

Has anyone else come across this? Did it actually work or is the product a con?!
