I'm in love with my cruella, but...

Hello! I haven't posted in ages, but I lurk every now and then for inspiration. I finally said goodbye to pastels and colored my hair a purple and teal cruella over the holidays. It's gorgeous, but I need to think ahead to my first audition in years, which will probably be in March. Mary Poppins. If it was Rent, I'd have nothing to worry about, but with Mary Poppins, I'll need a color I can take to the Banks!

So, red. Finding beautiful reds is easy. Getting to red from purple is easy. Getting to red from teal can be done. How will I do it all at the same time?

My hair isn't in bad shape, but I won't bleach it. I'm thinking fade it, neutralize the colors with a diluted version of the opposing color, then fade again? Am I on the right track, or am I overlooking something? It's also totally fading at different rates, of course! Thanks to all who lend their expertise to my cause!

How about putting the purple and teal that you have in your current cruella over the opposite sides? This will give you an all over blue that should fade at the same rate roughly. Then fade it and put an auburn/orange dye over to neutralise it which should get you to a fairly natural colour. Then you can add the shade of red you fancy.

Yes! That was what I meant about "opposing colors," but I worded it strangely. I hadn't considered priming it with orange before the red, though. I'll make sure to budget for that. Would a diluted orange based red substitute for the orange?

Lol when you said opposing colours, i thought you meant on the colour wheel to neutralise. Orange is the opposite of blue, so the exact shade of orange you will need will depend on the shade of blue. If you can get the blue really faded, you could go straight to a red shade.

After deciding on a hot lava, blood red mix (I'd rather have to fade it than darken it), I discovered that hot lava doesn't exist anywhere right now. What can I use to substitute? Attaching my goal color...
