How to get violet/red hair

Hi everyone I started to dye my hair a red colour by L'oreal but I was always wanting a violet/red so now my hair dresser used an Ion semi permanent 6.26 however it turned out a bit dark. You can see a bit of plum but it's not very intense.

A couple of years ago another salon put wella on my hair I think maybe black cherry? I think the wella violet/red is a 5 so I'm thinking to use this next but hoping it doesn't come out dark.

I'm also taking a more vibrant colour to the hair dresser by colour psycho wild cerise to see if that intensifies it.

My natural hair was dark-medium chesnut colour.

Any advice on brands, shades or what I can do.
Pictures of colour I want attached.

Thanks πŸ™‚

I think your best bet would be to use a mid brown with a violet tint to it and then top it up with a red/ violet true semi such as Adore or Special Effects, then you just need to use the permanent dye on your roots each time they grow through and not all over. I go for a Mahogany tone myself so not sure what shades to recommend but my method is to use Wella Koleston 5.54 (I think!) then keep the red tones in it with Adore Mahogany or a similar semi as I find any of the red tones wash out of the permanent dye really quickly and it just ends up a golden brown. That way you don't have to use developer all over your hair every time as that gets pretty damaging after a while!
