How I make my dye last as if it were permanent.

I leave the dye in overnight, I put it over my dry hair so it absorbs better, sometimes I add conditioner to make it stretch which doesn't dilute it at all for me. Cover it in plastic wrap, and a towel over my pillow in case it spills a bit.

After the dye is in my hair, I put some Smooth n' Shine Instant Repair Hair polisher over all the dye (I have naturally curly hair, so it's dryer than straight hair, and you can imagine what bleach and constant flat ironing does to the texture). This makes it amazingly soft and bouncy!

When I wash it out in the morning, I use Vinegar and water. It makes your hair so super shiny (I am sure this topic has already come up)

I don't wash my hair with Shampoo, that makes a huge difference! I buy this conditioner thats like a dollar and 18 cents, lather my hair with that and scrub my scalp thru the entire shower (When I am not busy doing other things to keep clean) and wash it out at the end of the shower. My hair is shiny, silky, smooth, totally clean as if I used shampoo and barely ANY wash out.

Once a week I deep condition my hair over night with Olive Oil (Super messy and drippy, but it repairs your hair like you would not believe! Specially good if you bleached your hair). OR I will just use cheap conditioner like V05, smells amazing too!

Great tips, thanks! I was reading about none-shampoo hair washing the other day and thinking how it might be great for keeping bright hair dye in!

How often do you wash your hair? I used to only wash mine once a week and use dry shampoo the rest of the time (great for making light hair/pastel colours look even lighter too btw) but it drove me crazy, sometimes you just want to give your scalp a good scrub!

Love the vinegar and water trick too, I wish I'd known about that years ago!

I'm always wary of putting dye on dry hair as I have trouble making it distribute evenly but I've seen a few people recommend it so I might give it a go with the help of a friend this time round.

Sounds like good advice, but I would still want to use shampoo once a week to remove all the hair products that I use to avoid build-up. I currently wash my hair twice a week. I am tempted to wash it only once a week, and condition it then rinse with vinegar the other time and see how that goes.

Gonna give some of this a go once I dye my hair back. I'm blonde for the next fortnight (trying to get it to white before my trial run of Manic Panic Atomic Turquoise mixed with Directions Florescent Glow) but anything that will help my dye last longer is a winner in my books!

I want to give this a go, what is the name of the conditioner you use? My parents are going to the States this week and i would like to ask them to bring some back to the UK.
