This could go muddy yeah, orange is made up of red and yellow tones so if you add something with blue tones (like purple) you get brown! You would be better going redder/ pinker first and then as the orange tones fade out of that you can start to transition towards purple from there.
Try and fade the orange before adding the red/pink as suggested, after most of the orange goes then blue over the top of reddish tones will get you to purple, but try and fade out as much orange as possible before putting more dye over the top.
Hey,
I agree with letting it fade as much as you can first, I once went from blood red to super bright neon pink in a day (Literally - and my hair kinda paid the price abit). I would highly reccommed using head and shoulders, well known to strip colour.
Any kind of clarifying shampoo, or a method I found online:
Vitamin C tablets crushed, mixed into a bowl with head and shoulders and washing up liquid. Scrub into the hair and let sit for a couple of hours if possible. Should fade it very quickly and not do damage π
I was always told that colouring hair is like colouring with crayons
Good luck!
I'd actually say it's more like painting with watercolours in that hair dye is translucent so your colour result will be partially determined by the dye and partially by your base colour! And remember your colour mixing from being a kid, if all three primary colours are present (red, yellow and blue) then you will get brown! π
