How can I make my fire colours more firey?!

Hello!

So I recently lightened my hair from deep blue to a mint green in order to do a red to orange to yellow ombre kinda thing.

I did it today, and the yellow disappeared. Not just didn't take, but the orange seems to have totally stained it during me washing it out (I pressume). This isn't too big of a deal as I knew yellow over mint green was optimistic. But the orange and red are so subtle you can barely tell there is a colour difference atall. I wanted a very clear ombre (imagine brown hair going into blonde).. like from a mile away you can see there is clearly two different colours.

Any advice? I'm not sure if when i washed it out the red just turnt everything redy orange or if the red and orange I used were too similar. Thinking maybe darkening the red a little and diluting the orange?

FYI the red I used was arctic fox posion with directions pillar box red, and the orange was SFX napalm.

Thanks in advance!!

I would give it a wash or two, and go over the ends/lengths with more yellow. I don't know which one you used, but IME warm yellows don't last as long as neon yellows, so try something like Pravana Neon Yellow or Directions Fluorescent Glow.
If you want a dye that doesn't run when rinsing, Pravana have recently brought out a 'locked in' range that doesn't run or bleed at all

For the yellow I suggest using this method to remove the orange.

Definitely dilute that orange. It's a highly pigmented dye and will bleed like crazy. Dilute it by at least 50% to stop bleeding, more so if you want a lighter orange. You can also add some of the yellow dye to it.

For my ombre I find it's best to use low-bleeding dyes like Adore otherwise it just winds up muddy after 2-3 washes.

In my experience adore is one of the least bleedy dyes.

Although as wicked pixie has already mentioned, there is a new line of pravana dyes that aren't meant to bleed, so you could check them out if you don't mind spending more money.

Out of the more affordable dyes adore is definitely the least bleedy.

Thanks πŸ™‚ I don't mind spending more, but going to try the adore first as it's easier for me to get my hands on. I've just ordered adore intense red and orange blaze. Also directions flo glow. Going to give my hair a really good wash and try and strip out some of the pigment (I used undiluted red so think I just have so much red pigment floating around).. try and make the ends lighter and see where I am from there!

The work we do for our hair eh?! xx

I was about to give up on the ombre until I switched to Adore. Using Manic Panic for it gave me such a headache. I wound up loosing a little length because I beat up my ends too much trying to keep them yellow.

I typically dilute my Adore colors a bit, mostly to make them last longer, but I can use them full strength with out bleeding issues. Adore also blends beautifully with no effort. I literally just smack dye on my head and it comes out blended perfectly. For contrast, ombre with Manic Panic and ombre with primarily Adore dyes (yellow is still MP, some punky color was used as well).
