Soooooo... I recently dyed my (dark to light blonde ombre) hair using diluted Directions's Violet. Absolutely loved the result, the dye only took to the previously bleached ends. About a week later I headed off to a festival, during the course of the weekend my hair colour changed pretty much day by day, despite my doing absolutely nothing to it - no washing/products applied, not even brushing it. By the time I came home my ends were green, a shade that I actually really liked as it still has some blue tones in the light ;D
But this week i start a new job, and although I loved my green tips, I'm not sure the company would appreciate it. I decided to get a stripper (Colourb4).
Whilst the stuff was on my head i noticed that my ends were turning a super bright green, soooo much brighter than it had been before! I figured that maybe this was because the colour was being pulled out of the hair? Anyway I figured it was probably best to leave it on and let the stuff do its work ๐
The result is not as bad as I had expected (after seeing the horrendous shade during processing) but it is still much brighter and greener (more of a yellow tone rather than blue) and generally pretty disgusting.
What can I do???
I was aware that the stripper would make my hair yellowy/brassy and so had bought an ash blond to go over my locks once stripped, but obviously I can't use it until the green's gone.
Would it be best to try stripping again? Please help, i have 1 day to fix this ๐ฎ I have tried to attach a pic but keeps failing ๐
Ash blonde dyes will make your hair even greener so don't use that. You need red tones to cancel out green, but first you need to fade it as much as possible. Here are some fading methods. For really stubborn stains you may want to try this method. If you can get the green to the palest tint you could tone it using a red/pink direct dye heavily diluted.
^ Agree with the above although if you're willing to go a bit darker/deeper you may not need to fade the green more, depending upon just how dark a green it actually is.
But the bottom line is that what you need is to get some red in there. In order to cancel colors out, go opposite on the color wheel. DO NOT reach for an ash, you will be adding too many additional green and/or blue tones to your hair and that's the opposite of what you want right now.
Thanks for the responses guys!
I really don't want to add anymore peroxide into the mix as I've only recently had my damaged bits chopped off! And I need a pretty quick fix, so have decided to give the colour remover another go (only needed on the ends so I've only used half the pack in case I need a second application) ๐
I've also bought a warm toned light brown dye in case this stuff fails!
