So it seems im stuck with adore as im also sensitive to henna. I was going to give box dye a second chance but figured its too much of a risk, plus i really want to grow my natural colour back. So i reached for some adore which was supposed to be a deep auburn copper shade (i mixed some colours, id used it before on bleached hair), and im not that suprised, it hasnt taken to my regrowth at all. So now i have like 4-5 inches of regrowth and reddy ends, i wish it looked like a cool ombre but it does not!

So im looking for some advice on mixing adore colours to even up my patchy/old bleach mess of an auburny brown head. French cognac is just too coppery. Ive attached some links for an idea of what im going for. But basically more brown less orange!

Mocha is a warm brown, similar to the second pic, diluted it is quite auburn. Or you can tweak your current mix with something more ash, Medium brown  has a green base so would definitely mute a red mix. You could just add some green or blue  if you have some around

On a different note, do you think hot lava will stick to unbleached hair at all?

I doubt it, manic panic is really not very sticky in my experience.

Oh I'm sorry, I had a brain melt down there.

I've used napalm orange from sfx a lot and it has never stuck to my roots much if at all. It's a similar shade to hot lava but a lighter, so I'm guessing hot lava wouldn't be much different.

I've been mixing Adore Cajun Spice Adore Paprika and a tiny bit of directions turquoise and getting a brownish auburn (prob a bit redder than what you want so probably wouldn't advise the Paprika, but the turquoise defo dulls it all down to a browner colour) I'm not getting much luck covering my roots with it though - even pre-softening them with peroxide I only got a couple of washes before they washed out.
Re the SFX question - I used to use Nuclear Red and that didn't stick to my virgin roots at all.
