Evening all...in short, I HAD very nicle bright red hair (Candy Apple/Nuclear mix), going out tomorrow night and haven't had time to sort out my roots/greys so bought a quick box dye (Live XXL in Scandalous Scarlet) - put it on for 25mins and it has come out as a really orangey not very bright red πŸ™

I've covered it with a diluted leftover mix of the previous red to try to inject a more pinky tone to it ... What else can I do?

I can get any directions colour first thing tomorrow and pop it on for an hour before I have to go to work...would putting  something like Rose red or rubine work? Or even a proper pink like flamingo?

A xXx

I think using a colour remover to get the permanent dye out and then redying it might be your best bet. I'm sorry it's not the quickest fix but the permanent red will be brown based which will pull any colour towards brown and away from bright red.

IME Rose Red only slightly diluted (don't ever use it neat, everything you own will be pink forever!) comes out lovely over any base. So if your hair is orangey red you should get a lovely crimson/ruby colour.

Thanks folks, it wasn't actually as bad as I thought it would be, still red but just more on the orange scale than I would normally like - I'm just going to leave it for a week or so and then do a bleach wash (bleach powder/shampoo) to strip it back a bit and go over the whole lot with a diluted  Rose Red/Poppy Red mix!
