Hey guys, long time no post but I've been happily purple for a while now πŸ™‚  However, my hair is feeling really dry and frazzled at the moment (straighteners!!)...what is the best treatment to get it back to feeling a bit nicer?

I know people recommend K-Pac Reconstructor but I've heard mixed reviews, are there any decent home remedies that will help?  Coconut Oil, Egg??

Thanks xXx

Hi. I've used Aphogee protein treatment before on my daughter's hair and it worked well. I'll try to add a link here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aphogee-Two-Step-Treatment-Balancing-Moisturizer/dp/B003TJHUDE#.
Also  home treatments I've used are : 1. warm olive/argan/coconut oil mixed with pure aloe vera gel and a couple of squirts of conditioner  and  2. Egg yolk and olive oil

First of all I would make sure what the problem is: lack of protein or lack of moisture. I made the brutal mistake of thinking to have a lack of protein which made my hair worse and worse as I had/have a lack of moisture.

For a lack of protein: Aphogee is a good one. I've used the two minute variant which in my case was a bad idea but it did what it supposed to do.  ;D I did hear better things about the two-step treatment.

For some TLC: I'm a fangirl of Aunt Jackie's Soft n' Sassy conditioner and the E-blast oil from the same brand. The latter could probably be easy replaced with another oil, I just bought it as it was a sale and you know how it goes.

Good luck! Frizzy hair is annoying.

Yeah, I had some terrible breakage after accidentally overusing protein. Doesn't take much at all for me!

If your hair lacks protein, K-Pak is amazing. Be a bit careful and don't overdo it at first as it can be too much - start with five minuted and then increase the time gradually if your hair responds well.

For moisture I generally just slap on anything that's on sale, lol. Probably not the best approach but I can't afford expensive stuff and my hair is getting better. Coconut oil is an absolute godsend though! I like to leave it in overnight whenever I have the time and it works wonders. I usually add a bit olive oil as well as almond and castor, just anything I have laying around. My hair soaks it up like a man dying of thirst! It's a kinda greasy process but it'll leave your skin all moisturized and happy too. πŸ˜€

As for using eggs and stuff, I've heard some people recommend it but I've also read that the proteins aren't that available for your hair. I'm no expert and if it works, go for it, but I think that if your hair is in serious lack of protein you'd be better off with K-Pak (or the Apoghee stuff, but I haven't tried it myself so I can't really speak for it). However I've used overripe avocados before, just smushing them in with some conditioner and leave it on for some hours, and it made my hair feel really nice and soft.

To combat frizz I find pure food-type oils works wonders. The ones made for hair never seems to quite do the trick for me - the 3 Miracle one from Aussie is decent, but it smells rather strongly of mango, lol. I prefer just using some coconut or almond oil as a leave in - it's easy to use too much, but it's what I feel actually helps my hair in the long run instead of just weighing down the frizz.

I’ve found jojoba oil pretty good recently.

YES, jojoba oil! I forgot about that. I had a bottle a while ago and made a habit of running my fingers through my hair after using it on my face, and back then I didn't use any other oils in my hair and it was in a really bad condition. I read somewhere that jojoba oil mimics the natural oils that your skin produces; I'm not entirely sure, but it did make my hair really nice.
