Hair dye/psoriasis

Help please! Does anyone have experience with scalp psoriasis? I've been diagnosed with it a few weeks ago.  I originally thought I'd just developed dandruff three months ago (thought central heating etc was just drying it out), I then managed to get my hair a lovely cerise/magenta colour that I've been really happy with, it stayed vibrant for 5 or 6 weeks without needing to redye at all.

Unfortunately it's turned out to be psoriasis on my scalp, just around ears and on my undercut, and the coal tar lotion/t gel shampoo they gave me strips the colour out really badly.

At the moment I'm considering dying the undercut/lower part of my hair black so it won't be stripped by the shampoo or keep it separate from the pink hair. Or, dark purple instead of black, I'd like to find something that fades nicely even if the shampoo strips it.

Any suggestions? Has anyone else got experience of this?x

I get it on my scalp when I'm stressed. I tried various shampoos which never cleared it up so I went to the gp. He prescribed betnovate scalp application, I only need to use it a couple of times and it clears up. It is steroid based though so not good if you need to use it a lot.

Go for the purple, not black. Black nearly always has a not so nice fade and it fades very quickly normally.

But also add dye to your conditioner and leave it for a while when you wash, that'll help top it up each time.

I agree, go with a dark purple as it would have a nicer fade and see your doc about a steroid cream.  I used to get a small patch of it on the back of my scalp when I was stressed out and that went away eventually (washing less helped it, I think, as it kept the scalp moisturised by natural oils), but I had a friend who had it really badly when we were in uni together (it looked like cradle cap) and the steroid cream was the only thing that helped her.

Thanks. I might try plum on the underside (it's currently 50/50 cerise/tulip). I asked about the steroid cream and they wanted to try these shampoos first as it's quite a large area either side (fortunately where my undercut is making it easy to access). Hopefully if the stress in my life is reduced as well it might help, a load of repairs are meant to be being done today (as yet builders haven't bothered turning up though >_<)
