Growing out bleach

I'm contemplating swapping my Nuclear Red for something a bit more subtle for a bit and giving my hair a break from the bleach (I'm a bit conflicted as I loooooove my Nuclear but I'm getting a bit sick of having roots within about a week of colouring all the time!). I'm wondering if anybody has any ideas of how I could get from what I have to what I eventually want as painlessly as possible.

What I currently have is chin length Nuclear Red over bleached hair (my hair bleaches quite light very quickly even with a really weak bleach bath so it is really quite a light base), with about a half inch of my natural very dark mousey/ light brown hair at the root.

What I want (possibly  ::) ) is a gingery brown or auburn. Ideally I'd stick to warm/ orange tones as I have sallow/ yellowy skin and brown eyes.

I reckon once my roots get to about cheekbone length I'll be fine coz it'll just be a bit of an ombre (and my hair will be a bit longer hopefully so it won't look too weird) but how do I get there?

Also any ideas how I can transition from Nuclear to a more natural colour in stages so I don't have to have a sudden major change? I work on a doctors reception desk and I really can't be bothered explaining my hair colour changes to everybody who comes in!! (my hair seems to be the talk of the town where I work!  )

Well, daft question, but you realise you're going to have roots in a week no matter what you do? What difference does it make if its a natural colour when it's not your own?

The best way to do it is let it fade and then start using an adore dye in a gingery brown instead.

Personally, as you love the nuclear, I'd stick with that and learn to love the roots ๐Ÿ™‚ Ok, how about growing out the roots more and just gradually making it an ombrรฉ. Then roots are never an issue.

It's just that my roots are a huge contrast to the Nuclear, coz it's so bright and my own colour is a bit wishy washy it means most of the time (barring about the first 2 weeks) my hair looks  greasy and thin, when I used to have it a darkish ginger I found I could go much longer without the roots looking so bad.
I think an ombre would definitely be a win as I could then do whatever colour I fancied on the ends without the root problem but I have a public facing job so I need something that'll take me through the scruffy roots phase and into the ombre.
What do you reckon to gradually transistioning to say, adore paprika (mixing it with my nuclear this time then upping the amount of it as my roots get really bad, then fading that once my roots get to about cheekbone length?

I'd just use the paprika over what you have now. Nuclear is so pigmented it'll swallow up anything else.

Gosh, you're not wrong  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ - I did a strand test with some paprika this afternoon and there's barely any colour difference even with the nuclear being a bit faded, it's so strong! I'll try and fade a bit more and do neat paprika this time and maybe add some brown of some description next time to darken it a bit!

Try adding a little green to make reds darker and more natural looking

Ahh yeah, not sure why I didn't realise that being a painter and all! Duh! I'll see what I can lay my hands on! Thanks!

Edit- did a strand test earlier with Paprika with a dash of Directions turquoise added and it seems o have added a bit of depth! I'm gonna have a play around at weekend and see what I can achieve!
