From pink to blonde in a few seconds!

Hello! πŸ˜€

I just registered to write this, and this will hopefully help some people who have dyed their hair, and now want to get that blonde colour back! I will tell you what I did, but I am not sure if it was just an coincidence that it worked so well. ^^

Two days ago, my hair was pink. Yesterday I got my silvery/white blond colour back. It took about 10-20 seconds.

Ok, so first off; I dyed my hair 17 days ago. My hair was bleached to a white blonde, with silver tones in it (from using silver shampoo). The dye I used, which is probably the key to why this worked, was Directions Cerise mixed with some Directions Lagoon Blue. Those two mixed together made a beautiful, bright purple. After the first wash, almost all of the blue dye got rinsed out, and that left my hair with a cerise colour. With every wash, it got more and more pink (and a bit lighter each time, obviously) and I didn't want pink hair (again.. lol). But I knew from earlier experiences that:
1. The dye wouldn't come out completely even after 1000 washes
2. Bleaching the hair wouldn't work (I had tried that before.. many times)

I was wrong about that second thing, it turned out. I used another brand of bleach this time, and it worked. So what I did was (finally):

As I said; I tried to wash out the colour with Head&Shoulders shampoo, and I did this like 4-5 times a week for 15 days. Then I bought Schwarzkopf L1++ Extreme Strong Bleach (maybe you can only buy it in Europe?) http://eleven.se/schwarzkopf-blonde-extreme-strong-blondering-l1-10998.html  <- a Swedish site, I linked it so you can see the picture. I was just going to bleach my roots, but when doing so; I accidentally got some bleach in my pink hair and noticed something awesome. Within seconds, as the bleach touched my hair, I suppose some chemical reaction happened and the pink dye faded to platinum blonde. In SECONDS. Not kidding.

Here is a picture I took like one minute after noticing this:

So I ended up bleaching all my hair. It looked like this with the bleach in it:
Every bit of pink was now blonde, and I washed it out after like 5 minutes so that I wouldn't damage my hair too much. I kept the bleach on my roots for 30-40 minutes.

To get the same results as me, I guess the most important thing is that you have used Directions Cerise dye. It might work with other pink, red and purple Direction dyes. Maybe even ALL dyes. Like I said before; there was some chemical reaction going on - I'm not sure what though.

But this bleach is veeeery strong so you have to think about this:
1. Have a window open, the smell is awful
2. Have a friend help you. It's not easy to get all the bleach where you need it. Like the back of your head.
3. Since it is bleach - it may damage your hair. Always be careful, and don't keep the bleach in your hair for too long. As soon as you see that all pink dye is gone - you can wash it out directly.

I guess that's it. I apologize if my english is bad, I'm from Sweden. :3

Good luck guys! <3

Fantastic!

I used Wella highlights bleach when I wanted to get the old green dye out of my dreads and that took the colour out in seconds but it barely touched my roots. The XXL Ice Blonde that I use on my roots is fantastic for natural hair bleaching but not so good at dye removal. So each bleach has it's own way of working I guess.

Thanks for the tip. And your English is great! I didn't even realise that it wasn't your first language!

Ooh this is really useful. I use directions Cerise, and I have a feeling that at some point I will have to change the colour, and I reckon blonde would be the way I would want to go - so can this be bought in the UK then Matty? x

I got Wella highlight bleach and XXL Ice Blonde in my local Tesco so yeah, you can get both of those over here. I've found that XXL isnt good at removing dye but it lightens your roots beautifully. The Wella highlight bleach I bought because it was all that Tesco had and I figured "bleach is bleach" so I got it to see if it would do the job. (It saved me a 20 minute drive to the nearest town to get the proper bleach you need). It stripped out the Tropical Green I had in no time at all and that had been sitting in my hair for over a month!
