From blonde to blue!

Hi everyone!

I'm looking to dye my hair blue using Manic Panic's Blue Moon. My hair isn't in great condition (lots of breakage) but it's reasonably short (about shoulder length) so I'm not overly concerned. I got some bleach highlights a few months ago at a salon, and I'm going back there next Thursday to get the majority of the remaining brown bleached out with more highlights. L

I've never used semi-permanent dye before, so I have a few questions:

1) My hairdresser will do the bleach highlights, wash and condition my hair, and then blow-dry, straighten and cut it. My dad is going to put the blue dye on for me. Am I okay to put the blue dye on on the same day that I get the highlights?

2) How damaging are semi-permanent dyes? Are they completely safe to use?

3) How long should I leave the dye on for?

4) What's the procedure in terms of preparing and applying the dye?

5) Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks! [emoji2]

Yep.

Completely safe and none damaging. They're like conditioner with dye in really!

3) How long should I leave the dye on for?

As long as you like! 3-4 hours is great for longevity.

4) What's the procedure in terms of preparing and applying the dye?

Use a clarifying shampoo to wash your hair. No conditioner. You can then either put the dye on towel dried hair or dry it. I prefer damp hair but many others prefer dry.

5) Is there anything else I should be aware of?

Not really. But do a skin test at least 24 hours (but 48 hours is better) before, just to rule out any allergies.

Well everything has already been answered just stopped but to warn you about getting dye on your face, it's recommended that you outline the hairline with some vaseline so it doesn't stain your face haha believe me you don't want that

And it's really not damaging to keep the dye for more than a few hours, I myself like to sleep in in and then rinse it πŸ™‚

Also if you want a lighter blue you can add a little conditioner to it to dilute it, but you can use it straight out of the tub!
good luck

Yeah, I've slept with dye in as well. It's better than not really damaging, it doesn't damage at all.
