Hey! I was just wondering, is there some trick to do hair like the picture below, or is it just that you do the top then the bottom or something...? It looks so cool, especially with like pink and purple or yellow and red!!! π
(like this but where you dye the top too.... cant find a better pic π
I guess this video is useful.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tw9bG3OXi8
If you wanted to dye the top as well, I would bleach the whole thing, then conditioner + foil the tips and apply dye to the top half, then rinse it out, and do the bottom half later (if you want the darker colour in the top half). Other way around if you want the darker colour on the bottom.
Doing the darker colour first means that if you are uneven with the lighter colour second it won't show it running into the darker colour, whereas it would look messy overlapping into the light colour.
wow! lainey, you pretty got this covered. i was gonna say dye one whole colour then dip dye it but yeah. you've kinda got it all down. high five. lolz
Was just thinking also, if you wanted a really sharp straight line you could do the sections in the video and then use masking tape to do a straight line before foiling the bottom, then you could paint over the line slightly and it wouldn't matter.... just like when you paint straight lines on the wall π
Wow, ya that was pretty damn helpful, thanks! π Seems like a lot of effort though so i'll probably wait a few months π Thanks! π
I wish my hair was long enough to do this awesome unnatural ombre hair. I love the effect especially on layers.
I agree with what's been said. Bleach then wrap colored dye in foil to avoid getting any on the blonde. If you were doing two unnatural colors (like say pink +purple) I'd say do both at once so they blend better when the dye gets rinsed out.
Well, my hair is kinda like that, if you don't count the 50 inch roots.. it's my natural color brown at the top though with colored bangs, but right now it's pink at the bottom. I agree, bleach your whole head first. If you have layers in your hair, you really don't need to go through the whole process of putting foil on while you do the other section... what I do is I put up the hair I'm not dying in a ponytail at the top of my head. (makes me look pretty hot) Then I just dye the bottom. When you do the top, though, you might have to foil it, unless you're positive you won't let the top color bleed into the bottom one. Good luck, though!
That'd be really cool to see. c: Post pictures once you're done!
