First time Multi coloured hair help!

Hi everyone!

I'm going to be dying my hair purple at the weekend, but was hoping to do something a little different. I normally just plonk one shade of purple all over, but I'm thinking of having multi-tones of purple, lilac and black.

I'll be using Adore Jet black, Lavender and Purple Rage and want to do vertical thick stripes down my hair. My hair style has a fringe with a one length bob, apart from a tiny bit of layering right at the bottom to soften the cut.

Because I've never done this before, can anyone explain or link me to a video on how to do this? I've searched a bit on YouTube and not really found what I'm looking for. Also, when washing, would the colours start bleeding into each other? For example, would the black taint the lighter purples?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you very much!  πŸ™‚

I have seen people using those elastic curler things to separate each section. I have never done vertical stripes myself so cant really give any advice.

The colors will bleed into each other so i would suggest using adore blue black instead. Jet black is brown based and will turn your other colors muddy.

The layout can also help with bleeding issues, so have the lavender stripes flanked by the dark purple and the black only touching the dark purple, rather than the lightest colour (lavender) being next to the black.
Adore doesn't bleed as much as other brands, but I would wrap each streak in foil and rinse separately to avoid bleeding.

Thanks very much, that's a great help already. I'm thinking of doing a bit of an experiment and just using different shades of purple before adding the black to make sure that's truly what I want to do. If it looks good, then I can add the black, if not I can just redeye the whole lot a darker purple to cover the pattern. I appreciate your replies, thank you πŸ™‚
