fast-fading dyes wanted! ^^

Hi all lovely-dyed! 🙂
I need your experience for an unusual task: finding dyes that are a bright colour, but fade fast and more importantly without leaving much, if any, colour behind.
I have box-blonde hair (8/9 that has been 10 at some point) a bit damaged but that takes the directions dye I use now fairly well, but with the last 4 fingers slightly orange and more damaged (Don't try to get henna out with bleach, trust me^^) that takes the dye way too good and won't fade. ever.
I'm gonna get a big chop when I go back home in a month to my hairdresser(I don't trust the others much, less if they have at most rarely seen a curly head in their shop...) and will be looking for a job in two or so...
In this time I'd like to have a bit of fun with colours and change as often as possible, and that's not possible if I need a geological era to fade them even if I use them diluted ^^
So, please tell me about dyes that have a nice colour at first and then fade tragically soon!! (and if I can be a real pain in the... write in how many washes they fade 🙂 )
Thank you!!!

Stargazer dyes are notorious for fast fades.

I think I love you 🙂

I agree, Stargazer goes quite quickly, and from experience if you only leave Directions on for 15 minutes like it says on the tub it doesn't last very long either.

Agree with the fudge paintbox, they only last a couple of washes

Agree with Stargazer, it's pretty naff really but the pinks last a long time. not as long as pinks from other brands but if it's pink you're after it's going to stain a bit no matter what brand you use.

My son used Stargazer Coral Gold, nice orangey ginger colour and it faded out in two weeks but my daughter has it on and after two weeks she's still slightly orangey.

I don't know how well their other colours fade because I have dreadlocks and they don't need washing that often so any time I've used Stargazer it's been ok for me because it lasts a while on unwashed hair.

Most veggie dyes wash out quickly with head and shoulders shampoo so that might be something else to consider, get a non colour friendly shampoo to help strip it out.

🙂 thank you for your help!!!  Stargazer will be 🙂
@ Acid & Stephanie, I just saw the prices for the fudge paintbox  😮 and I think I'm gonna pass on that...at least you'd think it was cheaper...  but I'll keep it in mind in case I have a "special occasion" or more $$ to spend! (and not to experiment with it if it goes well with my skin / eyes / clothes, as I'm extremely picky on the matching of colours ^^ and might leave to waste pots of dye I don't like...)

@ Tabitha, 😉 it seemed appropriate: my colour fading atm is like the mountains, you know they're moving but you can't see it... ^^

And I actually used directions cerise diluted for 5-10 mins last time...  and it's still sticking more than it should from what I've heard here ( strangely more on my multi-bleached ends than the rest... bah), but maybe I'm just playing with the wrong colour...

@ Marthurine, thanx! I didn't know it was all the pinks, thought it was just the atomic... and yay for ginger! It was my first dye... loved it!
I don't wash my hair that often, every 3 days is enough, +1 if it's weekend and I can stay home with aloe-oil-mayo-honey-last dinners leftovers (ok not the last) on my hair^^ I'm currently using a normal one with sls and all that but it's almost empty so I'll buy h&s... and try to wash more often..
<3 Ari, who can't write a short post to save her life ^^

i used paintbox, i think it was called flamingo pink or something similar to that and it lasted me 3 washes. comes out when it rains too so i would suggest not getting caught in a storm

You could also dilute said dye with conditioner, so you'd get a light/pastel shade (really popular at the moment) which would wash out after only a few washes, so you could switch it up regularly and save on dyes. 🙂

Yes, SG is renowned for fast fades.  I'd imagine the pink stuck for a month because pinks in general are notoriously difficult to shift (bleach often won't take it out on the ends in medium to long lasting dyes).

Pastel colours are probably the way to go, I currently have pink(ish) hair, I used diluted directions lavender and it started off a pale candyfloss pink and has washed out to a very pale pink/silver colour in about 3 washes.
Also, mixing with conditioner means it will come out a nice pastel shade, and your hair gets a really good conditioning, which is always good! 😀 Hope that helps!

Yeah Stargazer has always faded in a couple of washes for me, kinda smells funny too and makes my hair tangled.

Thank you all!!
I bleach bathed lately and got almost all the dye out...but the strand that I had at the beginning, which is still a bit pink (cerise directions^^, bad choice I know).. so I am thinking that the problem is not my hair, but the k-pak that I used for the first time 2-3 days after I dyed that strand to see the colour, that somehow sealed the colour in... anyway, I'm still going to stick to the safer side! 🙂
