FADING diluted direct dye (Adore)

Hi everyone

I used Adore Mocha + Medium Brown diluted (conditioner + Adore Crystal clear) until it was a milk chocolate shade (from opaque dark brown) to top up my fading permanent Medium Brown dye.

Prior to this, I had bleached hair and then dyed it down to an ash blonde. I want my hair somewhat blonde again, so I am going to use Colourb4 to remove the 1 application of the permanent dye.

However, I need to remove the direct dye and I am unsure if the direct dye has washed out yet, as it didn't make a huge difference to my hair colour in the first place. I am unaware of how long diluted natural shades of direct dyes should last... I have washed around 4 times since dying it 2 weeks ago and my hair is pretty gingery in sunlight, which it wasn't at first which suggests that it has faded.

I was therefore wondering if I washed another 2 times before Colourb4, would 6 washes be adequate to remove a diluted direct dye? Or should I do a vitamin C treatment just to be sure? I have never done this & I want to prevent as much damage / drying as possible, as I heard Colourb4 is drying.

Any advice?  ;D

Update:

I have just ordered vitamin c tablets. There are lots of ways online which recommend how to use the treatment i.e. number of tablets, shampoo used, length used... Does anyone know which way is best? Also, on wet or dry hair?

Vitamin c has never worked for me, i get better results with dandruff shampoo. As long as your hair is clarified before the colour remover it should be fine.

Thank you πŸ™‚ I'm not sure whether to do the Vit C treatment now as I am unsure if the dye is still there anyway & don't want unnecessary damage (from drying - I get split ends!)

Should I leave out conditioning (just shampooing) before Colourb4? I can imagine that coating the hair in conditioner before using a colour remover wouldn't be helpful but I do have the L'Oreal Eversleek conditioner free of silicons.

I use bicarbonate of soda rather than vitamin c as that's never worked for me either.

You're right, don't use conditioner before the Colour B4. Any fading method is drying, including colour removers, so just make sure to have lots of coconut and/or olive oil and conditioner πŸ™‚

I'm glad I didn't spend much on it! Maybe it's worth a shot anyway πŸ™‚ Thanks - I will definitely be using a lot of coconut oil  πŸ˜€

Some people have great results with Vit C, I have added bicarb and lemon juice to dandruff shampoo for that added boost. For me these methods are so drying that i prefer to just fade it slowly, it is not worth the damage to my hair
