Faded blue to red, how please?

My daughter currently has faded blue streaks in naturally dark (super thick) hair and would like to go red.

We did the blue streaks by bleaching areas then using La Riche in Atlantic Blue.

When she said she wanted to go red I went out and bought a couple of packs of Schwarzkopf XXL in Forever Red on the basis it'd dye over her faded blue/formerly bleached bits and lift her natural dark areas.

However, reflection I realise this is probably a bad idea as that is permenant dye - so more damaging and harder to switch up when she's bored?

What's the best way to achieve red from her current colour?

BTW it's 10 months or so since bleach and well over six months since we last put the La Riche on - she gets away with only washing her hair twice a week hence it lasting very well!!
