even up a colour

Hope everyone is having a good crimbo!

At the minute my hair is a pinkish colour (diluted Directions mixture of Rubine and Flamingo over a gingery base) but even though I like the colour it is just a bit MEH, but also it isn't very even (even after 2 applications 2 weeks apart) then ends are definitely a lighter shade than the roots (??)

I'm going to give it a couple of weeks to fade out a bit before my roots/greys will need doing anyway, I think I  want something a bit more vibrant next though coz I've been playing it safe for a bit while I've been growing my hair

Is there anything I can do in the meantime to make it look a bit more presentable I don't want to just apply more of the same colour if I'm going to be fading it soon anyway or should I just start gently fading it over the next couple of weeks before I go for something new?

Any suggestions on what next too - I mostly suit reds, pinks or purples but seem to have done them to death over the last few years!

A xXx

I guess it all depends on how it looks to you. I think it's pretty much to be expected that your ends will fade first since they have had the most wear and tear and your roots which still have a nice cuticle on them will hold on to color for dear life. This can result in a lovely ombre effect but it doesn't sound like it's happening for you!  πŸ™ Maybe if you give the roots a good shampooing it will help even it up a bit. If it were me I wouldn't bother topping it up if I was just going to change colors anyway; better to let it fade gently than to rough up the cuticle and such.

Edit: sorry, I had something backwards! I think I was sleep-typing.  :-[
