Ok, bear with me on this, I'm one of life's worriers (anxiety disorder so I really do worry to the extreme about everything)! I've been attempting to pluck up the courage to use special effects deep purple because I really like it even though it scares me, but I tried a patch test, got a bit on my hand and this stuff just would NOT come off! I'm rather worried that it won't come off my scalp/forehead/ears...
Has anyone else had this?
Thanks all
You can put Vaseline around your forehead, ears etc to stop the dye from staining your skin while dying.
You can also dilute the dye with conditioner to stop the run-off while washing your hair so it won't stain you. (deep purple is highly pigmented from what I understand so diluting it wouldn't affect the result much).
You can also do vinegar rinses to stop the runoff while washing your hair.
(although I tend to just scrub at myself with a face cloth and soap when I get dye on myself :p)
I tend to find that it doesn't stick as badly to skin on the face and neck. Hands tend to have rougher drier skin and so there's more for the dye to stick to.
Thank you so much ladies, that is very reassuring! I may do a test run on the back of my head to reassure myself it'll come off!

What do you mean by this (as in an idiot's explanation please!), tbh if it does effect the colour that's not an issue, it's going over my unbleached lightbrown/ginger hair so less may be more to save it from going very dark.
You can dilute semi permanent dye by mixing it with conditioner. Mixing it with a cheap silicone free conditioner means that you have less pigment per ml in the mixture, so the result may be less dark (depending on how much you dilute the dye) and there will also be less excess pigment running off when you wash your hair.
So yeah, you basically just mix some conditioner in to your dye then apply it like normal. Although over unbleached hair I would only dilute it a little, as semi dyes wash off of Virgin hair quickly.
