Does anyone know how I could get a similar colour to this?

She says she used SFX Burgundy Wine over a ginger base....but of course SFX is proving exceptionally hard to get hold of (and sadly Burgundy Wine isn't on the list of colours being delivered soon)

Does anyone have any photos of Directions Rose Red over a dark base? Or perhaps SFX Virgin Rose (as that's one of the colours that is meant to be delivered shortly)

Can anyone tell me what the rub / run off of those two colours is like?

Or does anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks  ;D

The only advice I can offer on this is that rose red, while a stunning colour, has the worst rub off and run off of any dye I have ever used. It stained my entire body pink for The first couple of showers after I used it.

Does diluting not help the rub off?

It does, but I didn't know how effective the dye would be over a darker base if it was diluted. I have to dilute mine with well over half conditioner to stop a ridiculous amount of colour bleeding 🙂

I have used Rose Red over a dark base, I always diluted it a lot to prevent the rub off. I found it better to dilute with warm water, about two parts water to one part dye and apply to dry hair.
I think SFX Virgin Rose would be a longer lasting alternative.

ehh, im not sure how dark of a base you're talking about.  i did vr over root regrowth (im naturally a light ash brown, def darker than blonde though) and faded green.  it covered really really well and was/is still super vibrant.  heres a link.  hope that helps somewhat?

I could do any base really as my hair is currently bleached and dyed as in my avatar (only now it's very very faded)

Your VR is pretty, but the colour I'm trying to get to is much darker (please see above photo) so I could give that a go over a mid brown base colour and see what happens...but you say it faded green?? That seems odd?

ok-- i think i misunderstood a bit, i'm sorry!!

i got that the top picture was your goal. but, i thought you currently had a dark base, and that you wanted to know if vr over it would get you somewhere close.  so, that's why i said i'd need to know how dark you were talking about.  i gave you my example because my base for those pictures was dark-ish (faded teal green with  light ash brown re-growth), and it still came out *super* vibrant-- which i know is totally not what you want!!

i see now that you're asking if dying your hair darker first, then using vr would get you close to that picture.  and to that, i'd say you need a base that's even darker than mid-brown.  vr is really super vibrant and i was surprised at how it swallowed up my base.

and no, vr didn't fade green!  i was saying that my base for that color was a faded out green and natural roots.  if anything, it fades brighter pink, and in my case, it's fading purple over the parts of my hair that were the most green to begin with.

haha, here i'm trying to be helpful and all i did was confuse things!! lol

With that much rub off it's got to be so highly pigmented that diluting should be fine 🙂

I got a very similar color using a pot of directions dark tulip and one of tulip over pink base. If you put it on a slightly orange base i think it will give this exact color. Mine is a little pinker because of the bright pink base.

What's the rub off like with dark Tulip  Puerkz?

If I were to mix my own (I already have a full bottle of SFX Pimpin Purple) which SFX pink or pink / red do you think I should add to it?

I havent had much problem with rub off but then again, i've never had problems with any color. There is Just a little staining on my nails when i go to the gym and comb my hair with my hands. It is very pigmented so i could see people having some trouble with it if their hair doesnt hold dye like mine does.
