Do veggie colours go out of date?

I have found a full tub of MP Hot Hot Pink in my bathroom cupboard; I have no idea (a) how it got there or (b) how long it's been there.  ???  It looks a little odd, kind of almost pearlescent, but as I've never used MP colour before I don't know if that's normal. Can they go off, or would it still be OK to use?

I wouldnt have thought they would go off. Give it a good shake, and maybe do a test (snip off a little hair from an unnoticable area) and see how it goes id say!

They DO go off. Some 6 months, some a year. It might say it on the side of the tub if you take a look. If you don't know where it came from or how long it's been there then err on the side of caution and throw it out. It's not like they're expensive dyes, if you really want that colour then get a new one and make a note of the date on it.

Agree, they do go off.

You can always do a strand test to see if it's still good before chucking it.

I'll chuck it. I looked for a date but can't find one; there is a albel on the bottom but it's faded so i can't see what it says. I've already bought my next hair colour anyway, and I don't have enough hair to do a subtle strand test snippage!

Cheers.

For future reference! Instead of cutting your hair for a strand test, just steal some from your hairbrush πŸ™‚
