Directions' turquoise

If anyone got any experience with Directions' turquoise - please respond!

I toned my extensions twice, they got dark grey, darkish silver. Very little yellow.

I just applied turquoise to them, diluted it with a conditioner, probably about 1:2/3, conditioner being most abundant, but quickly changed my mind when it comes to diluting it as it went FC**ing green!!! Bright green!!! Like it's the thing I was most worried about, therefore I've toned them.

I've seen people dye BRIGHT yellow, very brassy extensions (no tea, no shade though), and it came out blue turquoise, so I was thinking mine are not gonna come out green as I've toned them.

As I was applying the dye I noticed it seriously looks green, so I amped up the dye, and ended up literally applying it neat straight to my hair, as I've noticed the dye fades green with the conditioner (even though it's white).

I know dye works/fades/looks different on every hair, but by every hair I thought it's about the colour, not about some unknown, unpredictable factor...

I'm gonna leave it for 24 hours. Options are:

a.) it will go blue as it goes on to stain the hair stronger = HAPPY
b.) it will come out bright green = Will try to apply the dye neat next time
c.) it will come out bright green = Will try Atomic Turquoise

Any thoughts girls? <3

That's a weird result! I wonder if it's the new formula of directions turquoise. Maybe I'll try diluting the new turq to see what it does, but up until now directions turquoise has never turned green on me. Not at application, nor at fading. Not with a yellow-ish base, not with a white-ish base and not with a pink base. Like the post before yours said, I've diluted half a teaspoon of turq in a whole bowl of conditioner and it just turned icy blue. Now that I've washed it, just goes a softer pastel shade, no green at all. This was over a toned to white-ish base.

Are you sure you have a legit pot of directions turquoise (did you buy it off here or at some auctioning website)? When did you buy it? Directions have changed their colours, so maybe it changed the colour? I'm getting a few pots from the new turq in a while, I'm going to dilute it to see what it does.

I used directions turquoise for a while and it was very blue, not very green at all! My hair was bleached to yellow, some of the back looked more green but nothing major!

EDIT - This is the old Directions Formula, not the new one.

The new formula is much greener and not as pigmented, I won't be using it anymore. I think a good alternative is Adore Aquamarine.
You will need to mix some blue in to get a true turquoise, it won't get bluer, only greener as it fades. You could also just put some diluted blue over the top to get a true turquoise shade.

It is turquoise, but it looks green. I love your haircolour on your avatar, but the picture you included is dark seafoam green.

I'll wash it off tomorrow. but in the shower cap it looks dark green. and I want bright blue...

Although, funny thing happened!

I think maybe it went green because I applied it with a tinting brush which in combination with a condtioner stripped the purple tint there was to my hair, and then it went green as the extensions were yellow. BUT! I accidentally forgot to dye one piece of extensions, and as I was unclipping them with my gloves on, a bit of the dye got onto them, and bizarrely enough, the colour on them is perfect bright blue!! It's what I want 100%. So I may try to dye the remaining piece with gloves on, without the tint brush, and we'll see how it goes. I know you all probably think it shouldn't make too much difference but the final verdict should be announced tomorrow.

P.S. Thanks WickedPixie for mentioning that<3

OK. Hmm.. The pot of turquoise hair dye is definitely blue-based, there's no green in it, however, it went green over my hair extensions. I don't know what's going on. I used sillicone free conditioner, maybe it strips the purple tint and that's the reason it goes green.

The final result is kind of a dark teal. But it's one of those results that look different in different lightings. It's like a mix of greens, blues, dark blues, light greens, and it looks like a true turquoise. True turquoise meaning this kind of teal/green/blue/dark seafoam colour. I'll put some pictures up when they dry!

Now.. I'm glad I first tried this product on hair extensions, as I'd probably hate it on me, and if I get the colour I want on my hair + the rest of hair extensions, I can sandwich those true turquoise in between, and it'll look like there's multitonal effect to my hair.

But what do I do now?!
Mix in lagoon blue with it?
Try a different conditioner? (Although it's probably not gonna work, as even when I was applying the dye neat, it still came out green)
Try Atomic Turquoise?

I really haven't got many chances to be honest... Once I fc** it up, it's over. I might try Atomic Turquoise on another set of extensions, to see if it acts the same as Directions' pot. I will tone them first too though.

The new formula is very diefferent and comes out super teal (exactly like what you described actually) on my hair as opposed to the old formula where it would often start rather blue and eventually fade down in some areas to green.

I've started mixing my turquoise with lagoon blue and it comes out a pretty strong blue like the old turquoises. Quite teal in a couple of dark patches, but it holds up a little over a month before turning teal all over.

I've attatched a couple of not-great photos of it. Hope it gives you some idea.

Thank You so much, it does help. Hmm.. I think I might buy another pot of Directions' turquoise from a reputable seller like beeunique, just to see if the ones I have are fake, we'll see!

As for now the verdict is negative! Turquoise by directions goes green, in real life majority of the colour comes out green.

By the way, what was I thinking? Why did I continue applying the dye AFTER I saw it goes green? Seriously, I can't even... I was hoping maybe it will magically go blue overtime O_o learned the hard way, thank G-d I didn't try and apply it onto my hair.

Turquoise does come out greenish on a lot of peoples hair, mine included. It depends on what colour you define as turquoise too. I still think Adore aquamarine is closest to the old turquoise formula, but you might be better off with Atlantic Blue or a mix of Atlantic and Lagoon if you want a sharp kind of blue with fewer green tones than a true turquoise.

Googled adore aquamarine, omg. amazing! what if it comes out green too?? I will tone my hair but what are the chances it will come out green? there are people who got such results with directipns' turquoise so I don't know what should I do..

Try Adore Acquamarine?
Try Atomic turquoise?
Or try directions turquoise mixed with lagoonblue/atlatnicblue?

Can you post a pic of your base? You can add a spot of pink/purple to make a turquoise less green too.

Directions turq has gone similar shades on me, but I haven't tried the new formula so if it's more green or teal a different dye might be best.

If you look at the pics of adore aquamarine in the gallery ( http://www.hairdyegallery.co.uk/ad-aquamarine.html ), you see a similar result to the pic you posted, might be worth a shot.

Hmm,.. I wanted to post a picture of how my extensions came out after drying them, but my phone was taking completely unrealistic pictures, in person they are GREEN, in photos they are BLUE, so it kind of missed the point entirely since this is my problem, it is NOT blue in person.

I think I might try to get rid of this green with some colour removers, and my next try will be Atlantic blue + turquoise.

I am not sure if I wanna give atomic turquoise or adore acquamarine a try since there are pictures online of people with green hair after using them, and I just feared that since I decided to go blue/turquoise, and it just came to fruition.

Atlantic blue and turquoise, I am looking at yaaaaaaaaa

Any green based blue (which includes all turquoises) will go green on a yellow base. You need a very pale base to get  light blue shades.

I bought blonde hair extensions, toned them twice, they had almos no yellow in it, 90% of it was dark grey/silver, and it still went green on me.

I don't want light blue, I want vibrant, neon, blue turquoise, so I think grey is a great base for it.

Thanks for the tips though!

http://www.hairdyeforum.com/index.php?topic=8493.0 <- I think I might try the same mix as his gf has, it looks cool! I really need to experiment to learn how the results end up looking.
