Dark teal advice

I'm completely torn. I desperately wanna try a teal, but I'm leaning more towards a darker teal. I don't want it to be really bright, and most pictures I find look like they would be neon under direct sunlight.

The picture attached is my goal

1) do you think this is more leaning towards blue, or green, or 50/50? Because I'm considering mixing Adore's Emerald with Aquamarine (or simply using Emerald. In come pictures Emerald looks green but others it seems too blue so maybe it doesn't need to be mixed with aquamarine anyway) do you think that would work as in the picture?

2)would mixing the colors I mentioned be too bright? I have Adore's Off Black (got it as a sample), I'm considering mixing only a little bit in, to make it darker... Has anyone used black dyes before to darken out a color?

3) should I mix something else to get a darker result instead? Im afraid the ones I mentioned would be too bright. However, I would be dying over a faded out light-orange, like a level 5-6 blonde. Maybe that would be enough to make it not as bright as over bleached hair.

Opinions pleeease?

I'd say the picture you've posted leans more towards turquoise than teal, it's quite blue. Right now I dye my hair Alpine Green (quite similar to adore's emerald I think) then and I use Adore's Blue Black to darken it. If anything I think using Off Black might make it come out a bit muddy since it's quiet a warm toned black.  Yo get the colour in the picture I think you'd be okay just mixing turquoise and emerald together; but if you want it super dark it's probably better to buy a blue black and add a small amount of yellow or lime green to it to get that tealy colour.

These are my mixes of Emerald and Aquamarine. The first was about 50/50, the second was 66/33 with more Emerald. I'd say that the 50/50 mix with a touch of Blue-Black like Lucia suggests could do it for you. It was a fabulous colour and has ral staying power (as I found out trying to fade it, oh god).

thank you both for the replies!!

I really wanna stick to Adore colors because Im loving this brand. The issue is finding so few pictures from people wearing their dyes and most of them dont specify if itΒ΄s over bleached hair or what ratios of mixing were used!

LuciainFurs do you have a picture of your hair right now? I do think Alpine green plus a blue black would be even too dark for me.

TabithaBlue, was that over bleached hair? I had seen your pictures before and I love the tone, especially the 50/50 one. I would prefer it a bit darker though, just a little bit. Since Im planning on dying over a faded orange/copper, would my results be darker than yours?

I just found out about AdoreΒ΄s Clover and Im in love. I think itΒ΄s a bit greener than Emerald, but not as dark as Alpine green, am I right? because I feel I could achieve what I want by mixing Clover and Aquamarine.

Also I think what I like most about that picture is the different shades. Some parts of her hair look greener, others more blue. I think I would try to achieve this by making one mixture, and then applying a pure green (like Clover or Emerald) and a pure blue (maybe aquamarine) to some hair tresses (hair locks? my english is still asleep. hair chunks!)

So, my idea: Clover and Aquamarine, maybe at 1:2 to make it not too green, over faded light copper (not fully bleached blonde). If I feel it comes out too green I would add another layer of aquamarine on top.

Im only doing this in about 3 to 4 months, I wanna let my roots grow because I think this look would look awesome with grown unbleached (dark) roots. I promise Ill post my results!

Until then if anything else has suggestions (or experience with the Adore blues and greens) please come forward πŸ˜€

Yes it was. I'd bleached to a mid-yellow. I'm not sure what the result would be over a coppery colour though, as blue and orange don't work well together (blue is used to tone orange) not it might not come out quite as you'd hope.

I've not seen Clover though, that could be interesting!

Over copper it would come out darker and more green. The blue will tone the orange so partially disappear.

that could be good for me though, because then I might be able to achieve the level of "darkness" I want without needing to mix black in. And since Emerald is a very blue based green, I was afraid it wouldnt be green enough, but maybe then I dont even need clover.

I think I might try to bleach just a few hair locks to have some bluer ones in the end

And Ill do a test strand before hand and see if its too dark or too green, otherwise I can just bleach it all. Im hoping to be able to avoid bleaching to avoid damage and also to avoid it becoming to bright, but well see. I predict a full weekend of experiments before achieving the exact color I wanted πŸ˜›
