Countering the greenishness of Adore Darkest Brown?

Am I right in saying that red neutralises green?

I used Adore Darkest Brown again last night on extremely faded (stained!) blue-ish to almost mucky blonde in places.
For some reason I didn't add anything else to balance the green this time.  Last time I added Directions Rubine which took it in a more purple direction than expected.

So this time I have a darkish greeny brown.  Ewww.
I think I have some Directions Fire, will that help?  I don't know if it's orange- or pink-based.

It could be that it's actually yellow based so the blue underneath is  making it more green hued? Seems odd brown would be green based, but not impossible!

Fire is orange based, so it should work fine. The orange will help with any blue tones, and pink will go more purple toned, so Rubine was def the wrong direction πŸ™‚

What would you say was the right direction in a situation like this, Janineb?

An orange based red, as I said.
