Hi, i am currently ginger (a mix of adore sunrise orange and paprika) but it just wont stay in my hair after about 2 washes it looks so faded and patchy. I do change my hair colour quite often but only use true semi's and if i am changing colour i dont bleach it i just wait till its faded or use a colour remover. I only bleach my roots when needed. about 2 month ago i had a permanent ginger put on at college but we only used 20vol but even that washed out after a few washes, anyone have any advice on what i can do to make the colour stick better as its getting expensive having to re colour my hair every week or so to keep the colour looking nice :/
- Use conditioner instead of shampoo, it fades less colour (you can google co-washing for more information)
- Wash less often (sounds gross, but your hair will get used to it)
I agree, co washing is the way forward. Also you could try doing a vinegar rinse, this seals your cuticle I think and helps to lock the colour in more.
What shampoo are your using - what is your hair care routine? it sounds like the dye is fading way quicker than it would on the average person?
When you dye are you applying it to freshly washed but unconditioned dry hair? Leaving it in for at least 4 hours and adding heat? Then rinsing with cool/cold water? These are the best ways to get a long lasting result.
I go about 3-4 days between each wash, sometimes more if im not at work or going anywhere. I use the Loreal paris EverPure Colour Care & Moisture sulphate free cleansing shampoo and conditioner. and when i apply my colour i wash my hair with clarifying shampoo, no conditioner then leave the colour on for at least 3 hours with heat. what vinegar is best to use for the rinse?
It could just be that the particular colour you're using isn't as highly pigmented as others? When i dyed my hair coral red it didn't last very long at all, yet other colours have lasted much longer.
i never thought of that! maybe my hair just doesnt like adore, i have been debating weather or not to go a bright colour anyway i have a draw with about 20 dyes in it lol so might aswell use them up
In my experience the EverPure would draw as much colour out as any normal sulphate shampoo.
Would definitely suggest you look into Co-Washing π
Personally I find the Everpure shampoo better than most supermarket sulphate frees
