As I recently bleached and dyed multiple times, my hair had become really dry and frizzy with broken ends. I want to apply coconut oil (not hot oil treatment) on it to smooth the frizz and condition it as coconut oil is very good for hair. However, some articles online stated how coconut oil fades hair dyes, although it seems to mentions chemical treated hair dye only. I wonder if coconut oil will have the same effect on direct hair dye, or will it be fine to use as hair moisturiser?
to be honest I've actually never noticed coconut oil making my dye fade, not saying it doesn't for some people, but I've never noticed any massive fade due to using it on my hair
Thanks, coconut oil is the best thing and simply the only thing that massively improve the state of dryness on my end. I would be in so much trouble if I can not use it. *1*
Coconut oil does a number on my dye for sure, but not a huge deal to be worried about
Thanks, good to know people are still using coconut oil. I really need some moisturiser on my hair and nothing work like coconut oil, such magic. π
hello π just wanted to ask if you guys have any good coconut oil brand suggestions? *thx*
Not really. As long as it's virgin coconut oil it's fine. I try to get mine in Asian food shops if I can as its far, far cheaper there. The ones for cooking are fine.
Got it, thanks π
Sorry if I'm asking this on this thread but I figured it's related to the topic and more convenient for other people asking about coconut oil to just go to one thread, is there any method to applying the coconut oil to the hair? Like do I have to mix it with my conditioner? How much is too much? How long do I leave it? Do I leave it on overnight? Stuff like that. Thanks! *hugs*
Honestly, for future ref, it's actually better to put it in a separate thread with a related title. That makes it easier for other people to search for when it's something specific π
Just get a little oil, let it melt in your hands, then smooth through. Amount depends if it's a leave in or a treatment, or if it's for bleaching etc. it can be trial and error though, it depends on your hair, the thickness etc.
Noted. Thank you π
