So as "the season" is coming up, I'd like to turn my hair a true dark green. Like this (but without the dreads obviously)
I currently have bright Alpine Green (with a bit of remaining turquoise) roots and mid lengths, fading into dark violet/neon blue ends. I do love the colour combination, but the green is just far too bright for me, I don't think it suits me this light, plus for some reason it really shows up the grease really quickly. I don't have super greasy hair, but the green portions of my hair look dirty much quicker than any other colour I've had. :/ I presume it's the lightness?
So if I were to remove/bleach the remaining violet to get an all over turquoisey green base, what would I need to do to get to a dark true green? I presume that if I were just to put a straight up green over the turquoise it would come out more teal, which isn't the end of the world.
Also I've heard of mixing a bit of Directions Ebony in with other Directions dyes to darken them. Would that work with something like Apple Green, or would the base of the Ebony make it go sludgey?
Or can anyone recommend me a different brand? I've only really ever used Directions, but I'm willing to have a go with another brand. π
Thanks lovelies. π
The pic you're linking looks very teal to me. It looks a bit like a mix I did of Stargazer's Blue Black & Stargazer's Tropical Green in a 1:1 ratio. It looked like this :
I'm not sure about mixing a black, and you're ultimately not after a teal? Because I have mixed dark blues with greens to get lovely dark teal shades, sometimes more towards blue, sometimes more towards green, also depends on the light.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but maybe someone else has experience with true dark greens. I've always had mid to neon greens. Alpine was never so bright for me, always on the darker end. I'm quite surprised you'd desribe it as bright!
Ahh Rij that teal is marvellous, been trying to pluck up the courage to go a colour like that <3
The new formula Directions Ebony is red-based so if used to darken up a green you'll likely get a rather muddy mess as red is the opposite of green. A small amount *may* work to knock the edge off the brightness of a green making it a more 'natural' green but I'm not sure about this!
The new formula Ebony still faded green last time I used it (not on myself lol) but a small amount of red or orange is a good way to darken and mute greens, so it wouldn't be an issue anyway.
I love that teal Rij. <3 So pretty.
My alpine was diluted over the top of a bright yellow bleached base so freshly dyed it was quite bright teal but it washed out to a really bright turquoise/green.
Hmmm.. well I guess I could give the mixing a go and see what happens before I put it on my hair! If it looks remotely sludgey I'll give it a miss.
Thanks guys!
