"chocolate blonde"/"rose gold"

I was "chocolate blonde" (as in the Schwarzkopf permanent colour) several years ago and loved it. Recently seen a new range of permanents by Garnier, one of which was called Rose Gold. To my eye, it reminded me of the chocolate blonde a little bit.

What I'd like to know is a)Could a colour anything like either of them be achievable with direct dyes? 2) If so, how? And 3)How should I describe these colours?

Although my mum won't let me even breathe in the direction of hair dye at home now after having stained the grouting*, I'd really like to know.

My hair is currently like a dusty grey-lilac (Possibly a similar tone to one Kelly Osbourne had once). Photos will be up later as I'm on a phone atm. Thanks for all your help so far, everyone!

*I hate grouting with a passion, myself. Stains really easily and is a complete faff to clean. When I move into my own place, it will be grout-free.... Even if I have to decorate it that way myself!

Can't help on the dye colours right now as I can't get my phone to work with my browser to find that colour.

However, try mould spray on the grouting. Might take more than one go, but it is very good at removing dye stains. As odd as that sounds.

No problem! Thanks for the tip re: the mould spray, BTW - I'd have never thought of that! What brand do you use?

Anyway.... Sorry for the wait, now for photos.

Chocolate blonde (This image is the closest to the box picture that I remember from IRL. Gutted it got discontinued!

It me from yonks ago with that colour. Hopefully there's a good range of lighting in that, let me know if you need more!  http://www.facebook.com/rhys.williams.370515/media_set?set=a.10150622835571455.371310.643511454&type=3

I *THINK* these photos show the same colour, just indoors in a dark bar:

Rose gold:

My current colour is *nothing* like how I described it, either. Sorry!  I can't photograph it properly, but it definitely looks purple sometimes to my eye IRL.
It's the fading mix that I think is on the side of my profile. If that's blank, it's Adore Dark Chocolate and Adore Raging Red mixed. 1:1, IIRC.

They're attached, I hope!

Couple more questions: What type of colour should I ask for if I go to a hairdressers' any time soon?

Also, would you say getting an all-over colour like either of the ones described (Which I like, but would need more touch ups, potentially) or one closer to my natural colour (Which I don't like much and could fade in an ugly way on the bleached bits, but would mean fewer root touch-ups) could be better?  :-
Or should I just let the hair grow out and get it snipped every few months to lop off a bit of the bleach at a time?

Thanks again and sorry for the 53rd degree!

If you want a colour like either of those then one thing I will say is don't ask for Rose gold whatever you do as in my opinion the garnier nutrisse box that is called rose gold, has in fact never seen rose gold. I'm unsure how to help in advising you what colour to ask for though because to my eyes those two colours on the box's are very different and your hair in the first pictures is what I would describe as a mid chocolate brown. Rather than figuring out what colour to ask for by name, I think it's usually best to look through google images or Pinterest if you have it, and save a few photos of the hair colour you would like and also save a photo or two of the colour that you definitely DONT want, just to save any confusion. I will post a pic tomorrow but I *think* that my current colour is pretty close to the top box photo but I have achieved it by accident trying to fade out a box brown that I put on top of very pale blonde x

I'd say the chocolate blonde one looks like a golden light to mid brown to me (something like if my natural mousey colour had a bit more 'oomph' to it!) - but if someone asked me for rose gold I'd assume they wanted that kind of strawberry blonde that has a coppery pink tinge to it!

Hi, do you still have any photos of your colour from this post?

Just got told my hair looks "ombre" by my mum  :'( . I think she meant it as a compliment, too....

Been doing some research and will call my local hairdressing academy when I'm satisfied I've done enough and figured out what I'd like.

Also, I've found that my roots have become a lot more oily as I've been growing them out. Is this normal?
