Brunette direct dyes on blonde hair?

Hi,

I have 'Mocha' by Adore, which I have been told is a green based brown. I currently have medium ash blonde, yet I want to try out brunette without it being permanent.

I was therefore wondering (if I used Mocha):
1) would a green toned brown fade my blonde hair green?
2) would it ever fully wash out?
3) is it 100% not damaging?

Another thing:

I have never used direct dyes so I'm not sure what conditioner I should use to dilute it! Any ideas?

Thank you! x

1) would a green toned brown fade my blonde hair green?  Probably, if it's green toned it'll probably fade to greenish
2) would it ever fully wash out?  Maybe not 100% but there are other fading methods and you can always re-dye when it fades
3) is it 100% not damaging?  Totally, no peroxide required

Thank you! x

You can mix with any conditioner but it's best to use a white one.  Or a clear one.

If you're at all worried about results, do a strand test first.  You don't want to do your whole head without knowing what it's going to look like, then rinse off and hate it!

I haven't used Mocha myself, but there seem to be mixed reviews about whether it has a green (ash) base or a warm one.
Very ash based browns can look greenish as they fade out on blonde hair. adding some orange or red will prevent this.
It may or may not fade out entirely, it depends how porous your hair is. If it is important that you don't stain your base then don't go darker. There are lots of methods for removing direct dyes when you want them gone, but staining can be permanent.
They are 100% non damaging, they work like coloured conditioners to just stain the outside of the hair. There is no chemical reaction involved, so they don't alter the structure of your hair. Many people leave them on overnight.
Any conditioner can be used to dilute, white is easiest to check the shade, and some prefer silicone free. My personal favourite for diluting is Tresemme Naturals.

Thanks for the help! Stupid of me to not even think about a strand test... I will do that tomorrow and see how it fades over a month πŸ™‚

Thank you! I'm too scared to go fully dark at the moment so will do a strand test first πŸ™‚ Hopefully it doesn't turn green!

Try diluting a drop in some conditioner and spreading on white paper. this usually gives a good indication of the base colours

I used Adore Mocha about 2 weeks ago. Definitely not green based, it has a warmth to it but without being coppery and definitely not ashy.

I read on beeunique  that the medium brown has an ashy green tinge to it.

I used adore mocha many times it's warm closer to gold then red, it's my favorite adore color, the medium brown is literally khacki green, I've used it before to cool other colors but alone it's swampy
