I put Directions Ebony on my roots only. I put conditioner on the ends to prevent staining. I still ended up with staining, which isn't a huge deal and I half way expected, BUT I have NO black in my hair at all. Not even at the roots where I put it. Instead, what I have is teal.
Yes, I know that Ebony has a greenish-blue base, but I thought it would show when it faded. But I might as well have put straight teal in my hair.
Is there another black suggestion?

Sorry to hear that. Manic Panic Raven is very popular and also there are a few blacks in the Via Natural range which mught work better for you.

You’ll get staining with most blacks. Try coconut oil rather than conditioner and then wash out the oil with conditioner.
