I dyed my hair with Adore Purple Rage about 3 days ago. It hasn't taken on the roots at all, they've gone a crappy yucky greyish lilacy shade and the rest nice dark purple. Anyone any idea why this happens and how I can avoid it next dye time
This usually happens to me but never this bad, when I was mix of alpine/turquoise it would even out after lengths faded to match roots. I went over roots with more dye earlier and am leaving over night, fingers crossed it sorts it out. Heres pic of base I dyed, anyone any idea how to avoid this next time. Hope it sorts out got dye on now sleeping with it on.

Here's how it turned out freshly dyed

And crappy yucky roots after one wash πŸ™

I get this from time to time. Most if the times it's just sections I can hide but I had real problems at christmas and tried everything. Even atomic pink wouldn't take. I had to leave it and deal with it, when 5 weeks later I done my roots, the odd bits covered fine!
I'd love to know the answer!

Did you change any part of your hair care?

Have you tried just reapplying on the roots?

I reapplied to roots yesterday and have slept with it on. Not rinsed it off yet, lazy I know but its sunday. Fingers crossed it works. I'd love to know why it does this. I didnt do anything different than usual or use any different products.  Will update when ive rinsed and dried. Thanks

Sometimes it's the lack if damage to the roots. It just doesn't stick as well! Good luck with it πŸ™‚

My roots always tend to do this due to lack of damage, sometimes if it doesn't sort itself out after a month I do a really weak/ quick bleach bath on the old roots and it makes dye take better.

Right I've redyed over the dodgy roots, left overnight till about 7 next night. It seems to have done the trick, just hope it doesnt fade again next time I wash it.
I did 2 clarifying washes before redye. I used a cone free conditioner afterwards and my hair felt so much better softer, more body and thicker.
Definitely my lengths and ends have taken a battering with the bleach, I only redye and do roots around every 3mths. Anyhoo heres pics of root redye.

I was wondering maybe I had silicone overload and it caused barrier between dye and roots 1st time? I had been using loads stuff full of cones, which I'm gonna keep away from.
I need a good cut thats for sure, lots of damage on ends but thats another story.
Thanks  πŸ˜‰

Yeah, silicones can block the dye, plus the dye not taking on your roots shows that hair there is not porous and healthy πŸ˜€
