Best For Removing Dye From Skin

Hello everyone  πŸ˜€

Not sure if this is posted in the correct section but I've always wondered what people out there use to remove semi-perm hair dye from their skin?

Newly dyed hair always stains my neck no matter how much I rinse loads and use vinegar rinses  πŸ™ Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I always wake up with a dyed neck/face/hands.

At the moment I'm using some deep cleanser stuff from Boots and it's okay but not great...so any ideas and hints/tips would be fantastic!

Thank you  πŸ™‚

Have a read through these. They might help you out a bit. They have helped a lot of us. I find that eventuslly rubs off during daily wear and tear of moving about. Or when cleaning the dye from the bathroom and the sponge or cloth you use is covered in the cleaning product and gets on your hands. Make sure to rinse them really well though.

^^What Kittylost said. I find toothpaste on a rag works well.

How much vinegar do you use? I have to use atleast 4 caps!

Teatree facial scrub gets the dye off my skin

Adjust the amount of vinegar you use, I have a bottle of water with a quarter of vinegar. It's different for everyone. And just a reminder, a vinegar rinse is the very last thing you do in the shower, and you don't wash it out. Shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse, turn off the shower, vinegar rinse, dry.

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, but I usually put some lotion (any kind of skin lotion) on my skin all around the hairline, and I never have staining when doing that. Worth a try? :o)

Thank you loads everyone for all the tips!  πŸ˜€

Just to clarify; I use quite a lot of vinegar in my rinse - it's usually about a quarter. I am using apple/cider vinegar though, I don't know if this makes a difference?

Never tried the lotion thing...will give that a go. Do you put it on as soon as you've dried your hair?

I've washed my hair 3 times now since dyeing & used a vinegar rinse but i'm still getting a turquoise neck  πŸ™

It's just annoying as I can't wear any light coloured clothes near my neck area.

Hi, I put lotion on my face, neck and ears too while dying. Rinse, rinse and rinse some more after, and if you wake up every morning with a colourful neck and/or face, try baby wipes as they usually do a good job of removing it.

Sorry, just to make it clear that it's not during dyeing my skin gets stained, it's from the hair/dye rubbing off onto my skin at night mostly.

I think caz241 was mostly mentioning that as part of more info πŸ™‚ I also find baby wipes or make up wipes do a very good job at removing rub off caz241

Hi Janineb, yes, I was just giving a quick overview of what I do πŸ™‚

I dread to think what's in baby wipes- I've even used them to remove (wet) gloss paint when I've spilt it!

I use makeup wipes to get the staining off of my skin, or hand sanitiser.  I find it tends to stop rubbing off on my neck/pillows/jawline/hands (I fidget when I sleep) at night after about four washes.

Anti-bac hand gel is great for getting stray pits of colour off your skin! πŸ™‚
