So I'm planning to do bleach baths to get my hair to a medium golden blonde.
During the awkward between stages I wanted to use a toner to reduce the unwanted tones.
I did a strand test, and it came out quite orange, although it had a few yellow tones too. I then used diluted rockabilly blue to tone it down, but the yellow parts turned green.
Should I just use a violet toner instead or should I mix blue and violet to get an in between colour?
Also, what violet semi should I buy? Unfortunately, at the moment I only have access to crazy colour, so for the time being I'll have to go for one of those colours (otherwise I'd buy something like pravana violet). My initial thought was to buy cc violette - is that a good choice, or is it too blue? I also looked at cc hot purple, but if it fades to pink I'm worried it will just make my hair look more orange/coraly. What do you recommend? I'd also consider trying a different brand of toner (rather than one made by mixing semis), as long as I can get hold of it from Sally's/Boots/SuperDrug. Thanks!
I haven't used any CC for years so can't really help with that, but if you are looking at violet just to tone some brassyness you could try provoke touch of silver. It's a toning shampoo - they do an everyday one and an intense one. If I can't be bothered to make up a toner I just was and slightly dry my hair then leave the intense shampoo on for awhile and it cools it down quite a lot.
You can get a whole range of their stuff in boots - the one I buy is about £4 for 250ml I think.
I don't think a premade shampoo will do enough toning for the colors you're at right now. I would get Violette and Hot Purple and mix them together. I think Violette on it's own would fade green over your yellow but Hot Purple would be too warm
Thank you!
@katiesiepierski I just read your other reply aswell
