Atlantic Blue Issue

Hi everyone.

I got a new pot of Directions Atlantic Blue last week (from a reputable place), however I noticed that it looked different in the pot to my old Atlantic Blue from about 2 years ago.

As far as I know the formula hadn't changed, however when I made a little swatch of it it certainly didn't match my old Atlantic Blue. I then diluted it and to my dismay it seems to be purple based?!

I'm figuring (and hoping) that maybe it's some sort of labelling issue, as it does look a good deal like Neon Blue. Otherwise I guess they've changed the formula.

Anyone got and ideas, or have similar problem to mine? I'm more than a tad annoyed (dye is expensive enough here). Is there much point in trying to email them? I know there was a whole debacle when Plum and others were changed.

Thanks a lot for reading.

I just bought a tub and it is definitely different. It doesn't have that zingy turquoise tone when diluted, which is the only reason I buy it, I have plenty of purple based blues already (SFX)
I does look quite turquoisey on the hair though, so i wonder if it is like CC Bubblegum that looks very purple in the pot?
Did you use it? i tried adding Flo Glow and it looked sludgey as i would have expected.
I only did  a tiny strand test very diluted, I am scared it will be super sticky like the new Plum.

Why can't you leave your formulas alone Directions, or at least tell us when you change them!!!

Thanks for the reply Wicked Pixie! (Sorry I didn't reply sooner - was moving house and had no internet!)

Ah no! It really is a shame they've changed it.

I was diluting it to make a light blue/turquoise. I tried diluting the new formula and it wasn't that lovely light turquoise-y blue. I also tried adding some Flo Glow, but similar to you, it went sludgy.

Luckily enough I had half a tub of the old formula and used that, but now I'm stuck trying to find something that'll dilute to a nice bright turquoise-y blue. I'm thinking of trying Adore Aquamarine diluted. Looks like a lovely shade. (I've also been itching to try Adore!)

Thanks again

Great minds think alike, I am also going to get some adore Aquamarine instead lol. It is a lovely shade (and Adore are consistent with their colours, or at least they have been so far)
I think i will try a proper strand test with new Atlantic blue diluted to see if it fades more turquoise or stains like Plum

Aquamarine is AMAZING diluted. For me its also been impressively long lasting, even when incredibly heavily diluted.

Ok, i just did a strand test of barely diluted new Atlantic blue and it looks as it should, turquoise based on the hair. I can't get a picture, but it doesn't look purplish at all.
