Alternative to Special Effects Deep Purple?

Hi all, nice to have joined in on the forum.

I've always coloured my hair but got into brights around four or five years ago and now it's kind of become part of my identity. I fell in love with Special Effects and have used virgin rose, blood red and most recently deep purple. I adore the purple, despite the terrible mess it makes of my clothes, house and skin (!) and have been waiting for ages for it to come back into stock.

Sadly it hasn't, and my roots now are getting to epic proportions as well as the colour itself actually beginning to fade out in small patches (this has taken months).

I tried the Manic Panic Deep Purple Dream before the SFX purple and there was no comparison. MP was wishy washy on my hair and faded out super fast.

But I can't really keep on waiting as it really is getting to the point I will have to wear a hat everywhere  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Has anyone got any suggestions of other brands/colours which might give me a similar result or at least enable me to sort my roots out? I would prefer to stick with the dark vibrant purple if I can.

Thank you  ๐Ÿ™‚

Arctic Fox has heavily pigmented bright purples but they are not quite as dark as Deep Purple. Pravana's purple is more neutral toned but is very dark when undiluted or only slightly diluted.

I have this same issue. I tried Pravana Violet, and it faded to a silver/lavender in ~2 weeks on my crown. I also tried Ion Violet, and its very dull.

I'm desperate. I want my bright/dark purple hair back!

I feel like if you want a deep pink based purple then mixing a dark blue with directions rose red might work.

Adore Purple Rage, possibly mixed with some Rich Eggplant if you want it really dark

thank you for the suggestions!! I will look into them.

I actually spoke with the folks at Special Effects today who gave me some good information:
* they are in production now, expecting to ship by end of february
* to achieve the Deep purple, they suggested Blue Velvet and Candy Apple Red

I think I may buy like 10 bottles when it comes back in stock....

Be warned, it'll probably be different. So stick to one and get more when you know you're happy with it!

As for saying when it'll be expecting to ship... yeah, I don't really take much stock in what they say with that now...
