I have already made the drastic change from dark brown to blonde, I want to get my roots done at the hairdressers this 6 week interval so that I can try and change the colour slightly, how do I maintain this colour at home afterwards?
I'm a bit confused which colour you want to maintain... It also helps to know what shade of blonde. Warm? Cool? Honey? Strawberry? There's a lot of different blonde shades, so some more info would be helpful π

So I used to get highlights in my hair with an 11.1 hair dye that you had to mix, as my cousin trained as a hair dresser she did it for me and then she decided to experiment by doing my whole head and I've kept this up a few times however I've just decided I'm not sure on whether I actually like the colour and was going to go to the hairdressers to get it changed I wanted to get a colour that I could maintain at home without having to go back and forward to get it done.
When you say maintain do you mean how do you keep the colour fresh in between having it coloured or are you asking about how to do your own roots?
I use a professional permanent dye at home on mine, (Wella Koleston) and it's just a case of measuring out the ingredients as the leaflet that comes with it advises then painting it onto my roots with a tinting brush.
Anything else would be dependent on what colour you go for, like toning it etc.
Your best bet is to ask the hairdresser what product she is using on you then buy it online for yourself. if she is cagey about telling you maybe ask if she has a colour chart so you can point out the shade you want and have a sneaky look at that (but remember that she may mix a custom shade for you, and you won't know exactly what developer and stuff she uses so I'd just be upfront and ask - the way I see it is you have a right to know what is being used on your hair!)
