A very quick  run down on hair story so far.
Natural  Brown  home bleached  to a mix of orange yellow and white.
Crazy colour hot purple. This fades to blue which I don't mind.
Then to hairdresser for root lightening  (and to lift the patches and missed bits). Crazy colour purple  on top.
Recently decided to go red, b red on bleached roots looked amazing but faded so so quick.
Had 2 lots of b red on  without pre lightening  but it is fading . I am trying not to wash it but last bath I had was redder than my hair!
So I am now left with Brown roots, A chunk of red and pink, lilac, blond and various shades of these as main hair.
My dilemma......try another b red, bleach the roots and go for a semi red or change again. Have been looking at Affinage Gothic range but  am worried keep using the permanent dyes is  eventually going to break my hair but I can't seem to get anything to 'stick'.

Stay away from the b red. Permanent red dyes are actually no better at staying than direct dyes like crazy colour etc. They're also very harsh and really bad on bleached hair.

Stick to bleaching your roots and using the direct dyes. If they aren't "sticking" then use some of the methods in the "how to keep your hair colour vivid" thread. It could also be that your hair is now extremely damaged and is having troUnless holding the colour because it is so porous.

Agreed! I had many shades of vivid red for years and found that Special Effects direct dyes lasted easily twice as long as 'permanent' box dyes and caused far less damage in the long run. I used to just bleach bath my roots then reapply the direct dye all over and I found I could get 6 weeks out of an application before I needed to reapply (and I dont use any special washing methods or anything!). If your hair has been made very porous by damage from permanent dyes you may find these areas fade first (for me it was the ends of my hair that had been repeatedly processed with permanent dyes) but you can top up direct dyes as often as you like without causing further damage so that was never really a problem!
