I found a shop that sells Adore Semi-Permanent Colour and I was surprised to see that  there are silicones listed on the bottle

I really want to avoid any cones... I thought there were just cones in the purple bottle Adore extra-conditioning formula

I wonder if they changed the formula as there was  Phenyl Trimethicone on the bottles that I saw
(edit: it's actually trimethylsilylamodimethicone )

can you please double check your bottle labels and list the ingredients you see

here is the list from BEEUNIQUE http://www.beeunique.co.uk/Hair-Ingredients.htm

What are the Ingredients of Adore Semi Permanent Hair Dyes?
Deionized water (Aqua), aloe vera (aloe barbadensis), citric acid, hydrolyzed collagen, octoxynol-9, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, ppg-1, peg-9 lauryl glycol ether, methylchoroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone, propylene glycol, sodium citrate, fragrance (parfum) May Contain: CI48035, CI11320, CI11055, CI51004, CI42520, CI 27720, CI48055.[Ingredients correct as of 10th September 2012 - It is advised to always check the label/tub prior to use incase of any changes or updates of the ingredients].

I checked my bottles (I have 6 in various colors) and none of them list phenyl trimethicone.

oh that is good to know!

I will try ordering online instead but will ask that the labels are checked first

I wonder if they are very old or very new stock or if there are different formulations in different countries

hmmm

That is possible. What country are you in?

I do know that if Nickki is aware of any changes in the ingredients of dyes she'll update the ingredients list.

Canada

I am going to see if I can find any other bottles here that I can look at

I saw them in a shop that sells extensions so I will look at some other shops

they did not have all the colours but all the bottles I looked at had cones on the label

Adore has two different ranges. Beeunique only sells one of them. There is a possibility that the other range, adore plus, might have silicones.
What color was the bottle you saw? Adore plus comes in blue bottles and they say they are better on grey hair so there is a probability of those containing silicone.

Otherwise, like the others said, it might just be different countries have different formulations

EDIT: just looked up the adore plus ingredients and they do state a silicone. Not the same as the one you mentioned but it was a USA website so that might be a variation due to country.
Couldnt find any silicones in the range that beeunique sells anywhere.

yes I know Adore Plus has simethicone but the ones I saw were the regular formula in the white bottles

the Adore Plus have a limited range of shades with different names

I saw the regular ones like Sienna Brown, Crimson, Indigo, Purple Rage etc
so that is why I was surprised

and now I am worried about which ones actually have silicones if bought in online shops or ebay etc so I would always check in future

I am going to try to contact Creative Image to find out

I've checked my bottle of Aquamarine upstairs and it has the cone Phenyl Trimethicone in it.  I went back to the shop I bought it from today and it looks like it isn't listed in what look like the older bottles but it is in the newer bottles? Maybe this shop has started getting them from another source, or the newer bottles have this cone as standard?

I'm in the UK and bought form a shop in Nottingham

I got indigo blue, african violet and aquamarine (from beeunique) recently and all three have trimethylsilyamodimethicone - I think that's a silicone? -  but not phenyl trimethicone.

Not all silicones coat the hair. Some are water soluble and are used as color delivery systems to help the dye into the hair shaft. These might be one of them. I will look into it tomorrow as I like avoiding silicone. I will also check my bottles tonight.

EDIT: looked at the three bottles i have, two old ones bought at a shop in london, aquamarine and jet black, neither have the silicone. The other one seems to be newer as it has a different front and was bought through beeunique. This one, blue black, does have trimethylsilyamodimethicone. Apart from that, the new bottle also names glycerin and the old ones do not. The rest of the ingredients are the same.

EDIT2: looked it up in a cosmetic science book and like i said before, it is used to help dye delivery into the hair. The bad news is, it is also a shining agent and helps with combing through hair which means it does coat the hair. The addition of the glycerin ( an emulsifier) is due to the silicone presence of the silicone.

They must have recently changed the formula.

yes I suspect they have changed the formula

one of the reasons I stopped using some of the temporary colour masques is they have a lot of silicone in them

that is why I was interested in trying Adore

but I don't even want the water-soluble silicones as I am trying to cut out all shampoos and most other chemicals too.

I am washing and conditioning much less often and using more herbs and clays and oils
sometimes I just make up some dry shampoo
