So I decided I wanted to dip-dye my hair, got the bleach as my hair is a naturally dark colour, got the colour I wanted (rich fuschia), and then realised that the instructions say to apply heat.
Now all I can really use is a handheld hairdryer, don't have an over-head doodad that you get in a hairdresser, and I'm only doing the ends. Can I just leave it in longer, and not use the heat source, or does the Adore hair dye NEED the heat source? I'm disabled, so kinda had to pick the dye from the first shop I went to because it's so difficult for me to get out and about. I'm a little concerned.
You can use a handheld dryer, there's no problem with that. Just wrap the hair in cling film or a plastic bag (you don't want it to dry out) and give it a bit of a blast. You don't have to do it though and you can leave the dye on for as long as you like, adore is non damaging. Using a heat source will lift the cuticle.
Lift the cuticle?
It just helps the dye to absorb. You don't have to use heat, but it lasts longer if you do.
And if you don't use heat should you leave it in longer then? I'm still trying to get hold of a hairdryer. π
It doesn't matter. You don't have to have heat. Another way of opening the cuticle is use hot water when you shampoo your hair before you dye. Leaving it longer helps if you use heat or don't.
You guys rock! Thank you so much! My friend is going to help me dip dye it to see if I like the look and then before my birthday I'll get it cut and we'll do it again. I've never gone such a bright colour, I'm getting all excited, and you guys have reassured me a lot about the dye, so thank you! π
