I'm thinking of going a dark brown for a while, but my hair is as pictured at the moment. I wondered which brown would be best over ginger hair? With the best fade? Would the fade be nasty over ginger hair? I was thinking adore darkest brown or chocolate but I'm not sure!

You could always try Mocha, which is very ash-based and should tone the ginger underneath, though if you're looking for something darker you might want to go with Chocolate.

I put orange blaze over green hair and then it faded, I think 🙂 (there's a topic in the orange dyes section I think) but you could get something similar with Cajun spice. Not sure how light your base needs to be though! Mine was pretty light even though it was green.
