(Sorry, I posted again and Idk how to delete the one -_-)

Ok, also I might be crazy but let me post this in this thread as well... I feel Adore comes out brighter with conditioner. Not just lighter, like the color pops more. I tried it on a few places (I was just looking for my fuchsia swatch on my head...I'm a walking test.) And one is super light and faded looking and the other is brighter. They're both over the same bb job and I remember thinking that can't be right, but on my head I did another set of diff colors and the same thing, the cond version is much more vivid. WEIRD??

Here are some pics in case anyone wants reference.
It's VERY hard to get the picture accurate, the fuchsia is much more orange in the left, and light. The right swatch is very bright and a bit deeper.

In the second, the purples photo more blue, red comes out more bright and pink, and the fuchsia comes out more purple than it really is. Even without flash it wasn't quite right. The red is very red and the center and front section is very tulip pink, with hints of purple.

Diluting the dye with conditioner produces a shade of the fade.

A lot of heavily pigmented dyes tend to start out dark and fade brighter before fading down to the base colour (for example, Directions Plum.  We always advise to dilute it with conditioner if people want a bright purple with it, as it starts out almost black and fades up to Cadbury's purple before going to pink).  The base colour may or may not fade down to a pastel, depending on the individual colour.

That's very useful! Thanks! Hmm so maybe I won't use conditioner after all!  πŸ˜‰ I have to say, this has been the healthiest feeling dye job I've ever done, and the most hair I've ever bleached. Thank you all for all the help with this!! I will try and swatch my last two Adores.

Cheers for these girls πŸ™‚
I am intending to update all hair dye descriptions on the site saying which colours they fade to and giving more info on what the colour is i.e. if it is a  pale blue based lilac that fades to a silvery shade etc.  These adore descriptions are very helpful - thanks x

I cant seem to find the answer anywhere, but is there any other red that is orange based besides the truly red? Like, is there a dark, orange-based red? It seems so many of the reds are pink-based.

Hmm that's a good Q, Truely Red seems the most. Maybe the following? There is an orange as well. Maybe you could mix? Or Ruby Red, Cinnamon or Paprika? I'd check for pics of actual application but here are some swatches.

You can't always trust swatches!  That's why this thread was started ... Ruby Red wouldn't work, it's BRIGHT pink as a base (see page 1).  Honestly, don't rely so much on swatches.  Rely on people's actual experience with the colour.  I have used Ruby Red and I promise you, it is one of the pinkest reds that Adore has to offer.

Regarding Adore dye, they don't have a dark orange based red, unfortunately.  You could mix a dark pinker based red with one of their gingers or something like Orange Blaze to tone it to a crimson and it could potentially fade ginger depending on how much orange was used.  I plan on doing a Pink Fire and Orange Blaze mix to see what happens, but it's going to have to wait until August/September because I'm going to a wedding in a couple of weeks and I don't want experimental hair colours for the photos so I'm using my SFX mix this weekend.

I know, you are so right. From my experience the swatches haven't been too bad (as those way off Pravana ones we were talking about in another thread) but they photograph differently as well. (I feel all colors do, and since I usually do purples, I notice how those particularly never photograph true to color!) I have the Adore in a local store (and I still peer into the bottle!) So yes, you are right, in the end swatches are not the best way, especially with cameras/screen settings adding to that. So in short - I have no idea! Try what Intemestivity recommended. She knows her stuff! πŸ˜‰

I ordered Honey Brown, Medium Brown and Hot Pink, and this is the test on paper

1rst pic : Under light

Medium Brown seems to be soo green ! I'm a little bit affraid of that but will make a strand test to be sure it'll okay !

I thought I'd add a photo of three more:

Adore Cajun Spice
Adore Sienna Brown
Adore Sunrise Orange

The Sunrise Orange is almost like a translucent shade.  I've not used it at all yet, so I have no idea what it would come out like?

Got my Adore dyes in the mail today. I ordered Intense Red and Bordeaux. I'll just upload the example of Bordeaux on white paper since there is already an Intense Red example. The online example I had to go on for Bordeaux made it look like a reddish brown. On this paper it looks quite purpley, and less brown than I'd thought it would.

(I'm currently sitting with a bottle of this color on now. Applied to damp hair, put on a cap, and applied heat with a hairdryer for 15 minutes. I plan to have it in for 2-3 hours before I wash. If it works out at least somewhat decently, I'll upload photo examples of the results.)

Update: It's now the day after coloring. I'm happy with the color. It was kind of a coincidental early arrival at around the purpley burgundy color I originally wanted (since I had no idea the color would actually look like this since I had no real swatch to go on before ordering it). I don't have photos yet that show the color well because it photographs oddly (red with flash inside, reddish brown without flash inside). I will see how it goes when taking them in daylight. Inside and in person, depending on the lighting, the color can appear anywhere from a reddish brown to a maroonish purple, to like dark purpley burgundy. In reality the purple is much more obvious. In the daylight through the window, the purple is very obvious.
I think some of you may say it's a little more on a natural side of color, especially in certain lighting, without looking quite natural. It's just not as bright or extremely stand-outish as some alternative colors can be.
I'd like to see what happens if anyone tries to put this over or under a red. I may eventually put a red over it.

Glad to hear it turned out well--please feel free to submit a photo to the gallery!  We can always use more Adore outcome photos to help people see what the colours are really like πŸ™‚

Thank you. A second application would probably improve it, even. I'll likely order more soon. And of course! I'm aware of the need for more Adore photos, so I'd definitely contribute to that once I have some. I ended up not taking any today, but plan to soon. Hopefully I can get the color to show right.
