I'm a newbie to both this forum and amazingly coloured hair!
I've been wanting bright red hair and just wasn't getting there with the bog standard box dyes. so after lots of research- mainly from you lot, ive done it!
I bleached my dark brown hair (dyed with an live xxl red) only once with stargazer 30vol, then followed it with directions vermillion red (which was a bit too orange for me.) So next day i got manic panic pillarbox red, which i frikin LOVE! here is a before and after of my long long brown hair, and now pillarbox red....

I kinda want my hair short(er) again, (like my avatar) so I can curl it.

Probably teaching you to suck eggs here but remember that curling your hair makes it shorter anyway. 😀
